ALEXANDRIA WAS A tight knit community, that was a given. everyone knew everyone, treating each other with respect. each tending to their jobs to keep the community afloat. it reminded lee of a small town in the middle of nowhere, where people would pretend to be friends with everyone, while also secretly talking wrongly of one another.

it made sense to him, watching people's smiles fall the second whomever they'd been talking to turned around. how people would whisper as they watched someone walk past, it all seemed so fake to the walsh boy. he supposed he'd have to do the same, for the sole reason that he didn't like anyone in alexandria. they all bothered the boy, or perhaps it was the mere fact that they'd never been outside of the walls since the outbreak. they were weak, even those who went on runs outside of the walls. they were all weak, none of them would make it very long outside of the walls, he knew that. he wondered if they knew that.

deana as promised had given the boy a job, one he was rather happy with. he was put on run detail, getting to go outside of the walls and get a breath of fresh air felt nice. they'd been in alexandria for less then a week, and he was already feeling suffocated. tired of feeling like he was trapped, getting out of the walls, being where he had grown so used to, it would be a nice break.

his hands were stuffed in his pockets, his brown eyes glancing between the others that were also given the same job as himself. they were awaiting for whoever was going to take them outside of the walls, which felt unnecessary to the boy. they'd been out there for months, they'd be fine without having a guide. yet natalia had warned him not to argue, speaking of keeping up appearances, to which he reluctantly listened. deciding to bite his tongue to keep his snide remarks to himself.

two men jogged up concrete steps, one of them pointing between the four. "glenn, tara, noah, and lee?" he questioned as his finger moved between them, glenn slowly nodded his head at the man. his jaw finely clenched and his hands resting on his hips, he clearly wasn't happy with having a guide either. "nice to meet you, i'm aiden. you met nicolas during gate duty." aiden told, offering a tight lipped smile as he looked between the four.

glenn let out a sigh, "your deanna's son?" he questioned, looking to aiden who nodded his head, a proud expression on his face. "that's right. i hear you guys have experience making supply runs." aiden told, his eyes trained solely on glenn who slightly tilted his head to the side, not in the mood for small talk. "i seen your pantry, you guys seem to do pretty well." glenn told, nodding firmly at the man who shrugged his shoulders. "yeah well i had some training before this. ROTC." aiden explained, his eyes glancing to lee who shifted on his feet. his arms folded tightly over his chest, "my dad did ROTC." noah commented, a sad expression on his face as he spoke. "he didn't make it?" aiden bluntly questioned.
