RELUCTANCY HAD filled her bones, rotting deep into the center of them. reluctant to bring a stranger back to her family, back to her siblings. it was a risk either way, letting him go or bringing him back. either or could've ended badly, her people would've been in danger either way. so they brought him back.
it had gone how natalia imagined it would go. the group had been standoffish to the man, their guns aimed at him the second he had walked through the doors. he'd attempted to convince them to come back to his community, he'd shown them pictures and rambled about the picture quality. in the end, he ended up on the ground, unconscious and a bruise blossoming on his cheek.
his hands had been tightly bounded, his pack and weapons long taken by natalia. now it was a waiting game, watching the man who hadn't moved much since rick had knocked him out. the group had spread throughout the barn, looking through the small cracks in the walls, looking for any sign of arron's group coming for them.
natalia leaned against one of the support poles in the barn, her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes on the unconscious arron. she watched as maggie gently patted the man's cheek with a cloth, michonne behind him attempting to help maggie the best she could. natalia didn't need to know the man to know she didn't trust him. none of the group had a lot of trust to go around, the only people they truly trusted were in the group. anyone else, they were deemed an immediate threat. no questions asked. people were worse then the dead, it had been proved time and time again.
natalia straightened up upon hearing the man groan. his eyes slowly fluttered open, he moved his sore jaw side to side. "that's a hell of a right cross you have there, rick." the man told, chuckling softly to himself. natalia pulled a face at the man, confused as to of why he was laughing. she glanced to her father who only stared coldly at arron. his jaw clenched tightly. "sit him up." rick told, using his hand to motion for maggie and michonne to pick the man up into a sitting position. "i think it's better if-" arron cut maggie off, shaking his head with a low groan. "it's okay." he told, groaning as he shifted his jaw.
natalia took notice of the purple hue that was already beginning to paint the man's cheek. the red that had began to form around it in irritation. "sit him up." rick repeated, reluctantly the two women pulled arron up. his knees bent upward, and his eyes settling on rick. natalia could see the fear that swam within the man's eyes, clearly not thinking his plan all the way through. "your being cautious. i completely understand." arron told shakily, looking around the room at the threatening faces that stood watching him.
like predators waiting to strike their prey, only he was the prey. "how many of your people are out there?" rick questioned, tilting his head at the man who stammered over his words. his eyes wide as he shakily breathed in. rick showed the man the flare gun they'd found in his pack, tilting it in his hands as he stared at arron. "you have a flare gun. you have it to signal your people." rick told, raising his brows at the bound man. "so, how many people are out there?" rick repeated his questioned.
