IT FELT SURREAL the mere idea of going someplace safe, where they weren't in danger every second of every day. where the dangers of the dead were locked outside of the walls, being in a place where they'd be able to get decent sleep each night, it felt like a dream.
rick had agreed with the two, deeming it worth checking out. if it wasn't safe, they'd leave. lee wasn't sure if he believed arron or not, he wanted to, yet he just couldn't bring himself to. everything he was saying sounded to goof to be true, it sounded like everything lee desperately wanted for the group. it sounded perfect, which is what put him off track on the idea of it.
he wanted to feel safe, he wanted the others to feel safe, he just wasn't sure if this would truly be safe or not. his teeth sunk into the inside of his cheek, the sun had already set. it cascaded the world in darkness, it was one of the most dangerous times to make a move. not being able to see what lurked in the darkness had lee on edge, more then he already was. his boots thumped against the ground as he walked towards the rv, spotting natalia who was already leaning against the wall of the vehicle.
lee offered the girl a weak smile, a sheepish one as he stopped in front of her. "your going with them? aren't you?" she questioned slowly, her brows furrowed and a tick in her jaw as she stared at the boy. lee slowly nodded his head, his hand running through the messy mop of curls atop his head. "be careful." natalia finally spoke, her jaw relaxing and a soft look in her eyes as she looked up to the boy. he nodded slowly at her words, "always am." he told with a sly smirk on his lips, the grimes girl scuffed at his words. "i'm serious. if you die i'll bring you back and kill you myself." natalia warned the boy who rolled his eyes, his hand reached out tugging the girl forward. "aren't you just so sweet." he wrapped his arms around the girls waist, her own were around his torso.
reluctantly the boy pulled away from the girl, pushing the loose strands of hair from her face. "i'll meet you there." he murmured, natalia nodded as she began to walk up the steps of the rv. "when we get there i'm giving you a hair cut." natalia told, her hand grasping onto the door handle of the rv. lee chuckled softly at the girls words, "lookin' forward to it, sweetheart." lee called over his shoulder as he made his way to the car.
it was quiet for a while, the car steadily driving down the old road. the headlights from the rv shined brightly into the car, it kept close to the car, following as they drove down the dark secluded road. lee was tense, every muscle in his body tense and on high alert. his eyes looked through the window, terminus had left a nasty scar on everyone, they didn't need a repeat.
they'd barley gotten out alive last time. perhaps that was the reason everyone had been so off putting to the man, fear of what had happened in the past still burning deep in their bones. taking precautions were necessary when not knowing where they were going, not knowing what they were walking into.
