PURPLE WAS ONCE her favorite color, she liked anything that had to do with the color. she liked the vibrance, the flowers, she enjoyed it. lavender purple to be exact, it reminded her of the flowers that grew outside her window. the ones she and lori had planted when she was in elementary school, a bitter sweet memory. now the color reminded her of the bruises that covered her face, the bags that resided beneath her eyes.
yet now, she wasn't sure if that was her favorite color. perhaps it was red, to remind her of the blood she'd spilled, to remind her of who she lost. it reminded natalia that everyone died covered in the crimson color. perhaps it was black, to remind her of the void of whom she'd lost. to remind her that after someone dies, all they see is the backs of their eye lids.
she wasn't sure what her favorite color was, each color she thought of it always had a bad memory to go with it. yet perhaps she didn't like a color anymore, perhaps it was because she felt as if she was living in black and white. the colors completely washed from her life, drained and replaced with black, white, and grey.
her hands pushed her hair back, passing the needle to beth. the blonde taking it from the girl with a soft smile, pushing the medicine into the man's veins natalia jumped when she turned and was met with a boy holding a mop. "hey." he spoke softly, looking between her and beth. the grimes girl stared at the boy in confusion, "nat, this is noah, noah this is natalia. he's like us, he wants to leave too." beth told softly, looking to the girl who slowly nodded. softening the look in her eyes by the slightest bit, "nice to meet you." the grimes girl spoke softly, the boy nodded in return.
the room quickly erupted in loud beeps, the sound of thrashing forcing natalia to whirl around. eyes wide as she stared at the man, his body seizing rapidly. natalia gapped at the sight, confusion over taking her body. "what the hell?" she breathed out, taking a step closer to the man. the man slowly fell still, blood staining his pillow. natalia watched as dawn pushed past her, pushing scissors into the man's temple.
turning around she eyed the three young adults, her face contorted into anger. natalia straightened up, eyeing dawn with something the women couldn't read. yet the look in the girls eyes had her feeling uncomfortable beneath her stare. "what happened? he was fine before you three were left alone with him. i want you to tell me what happened." dawn ordered, pointing the scissors at the three. beth stuttered of her words, noah went to open his mouth but was quickly cut off by natalia. "it was an accident. beth left to get gauze and noah wasn't even here yet, i tripped and must've pulled a plug to one of the machines. it was only for a minute." natalia told, voice steady and unwavering. ignoring the looks from beth and noah, her chin held high.
dawn hardened her stare on the girl, "take her to my office." dawn told, natalia withered in gormans hold. his hands roughly holding onto her biceps, dragging her out of the room. dawn following closely behind. "dawn it was an accident!" natalia could faintly hear doctor edward's yelling, yet it words fell deaf upon ears. natalia stumbled as she was shoved into dawns office. turning to face gorman and dawn she let out a groan as she fell to the floor, a burning sensation running up her jaw.
