EVERYTHING BLENDED together, the trees each looked the same, the ground looked the same. with the same dead leaves and the same broken twigs covering the earth floor. nothing showed they were in a different spot then when they'd first began walking that morning, nothing except the burning feeling on the bottoms of their feet.

everything burned. the aching in his muscles compared to nothing he'd ever felt before. his left arm was tied to his chest. carol had made him a sling the night prior, in hopes his arm healed properly by being evaluated and held at a position that brought him comfort.

a sign that read in bold letters 'terminus' stopped the three in their tracks. "we're close." carol told softly, cradling judith in her arms tightly. lee numbly nodded his head, his tongue poking the inside of his cheek. "i'm gonna get you three there." she told, looking between the two men and judith. "but i'm not staying." she told, her voice soft yet firm. silently saying it wasn't up for debate.

lee opened his mouth to protest. yet his voice fell deaf on his tongue, his words not coming out. a walker appeared from behind them, stumbling onto the tracks. it's left wrist adorning a pair of handcuffs while the entirety of the right side of its face was bashed in.

lee grimaced at the sight, his brows shooting up in disgust. "holy shit." he breathed out at the sight, tyrese shook his head. his large hands moved to take judith from carol. "i can't. not yet." he told softly, his voice barley reaching lee's ears. lee grasped his knife, his movements faltering when carol walked past him. her hand gripping her knife tightly, raising her hand she plunged the sharp blade into the walkers head.

her footing was lost as she toppled down atop the walkers body. a soft groan leaving her lips as she began to sit up. her head turned to the thick forest trees with lee's eyes following. his mouth went dry at the sight of a horde of the dead limping towards them. carol quickly stood, her hand yanking her blade from the walkers head. "go!" she whisper yelled, lee grabbed the women's pack, passing it to her as they hurried off of the tracks.

his teeth sunk into his bottom
lip as they ducked down behind a small hill. watching as the dead made an appearance, limping out of the thick forest trees, growls and moans escaping their lips as they dragged their bodies around. lee's brows furrowed in worry as the dead continued walking towards them, looking over his shoulder he began to search for an escape route.

his body went slack upon hearing gun shots, his head snapping in the direction of the noise. his tongue glided over his bottom lip as the dead turned and began limping towards the noise. he turned his attention to carol, both sharing the same look.

what felt like hours was truth only twenty minutes. they stayed ducked down behind the small hill longer then needed, making sure all of the horde had passed by. standing the three made their way back onto the tracks, "that gun fire, it could've been from terminus." tyrese spoke,
looking down to carol who slowly nodded her head in agreement. her hand clutched her bag by her side, head and eyes scanning the forest trees for any lingering walkers.
