THE CAR SAT STILL, the sun high in the sky, and the smell of death filling the air. a meeting, a sit down, where a truce of sorts could be made. hope wasn't high, clouds hung low above their heads.

the hairs on the back of his neck were up, his jaw clenched and heart racing. he wasn't scared. he wasn't scared of cowards, he wasn't afraid of a man who cowardly hid behind a truck while one of his men ripped down their fences. his heart was racing in anticipation, he wanted to go to the meeting.

the governor was a coward, someone who had taken to much, he had ruined his friends. the governor had made lee's people feel unsafe, he'd placed fear within the prison. he wanted to go, he needed to prove that he wasn't afraid, and that he was willing to do whatever he needed to do to keep the ones he cared for, safe.

he walked beside rick, the two entering the small shack like building, a table and two chairs placed in the center. a small lantern in the middle of the wood table, illuminating where the two would sit down. the building was run down, old tools and parts to vehicles had made their home within the shack.

lee looked to rick, the walsh boy clutched the assault rifle tightly in his hands. his grip tightening when the governor rounded the corner. lee set his jaw, lips in a thin line and his eyes alit with a glare. lee stared the man down, the governor glanced between the two, humor dancing within his eye. "you attacked us." rick told breaking the deafening silence that had engulfed them. his body was angled in lee's direction, his head was turned to the man. his piercing blue eyes burning into the man's single eye, his other eye decorated with a black eye patch.

lee kissed his teeth, head tilted. "makes things pretty clear." rick told, turning so his body faced the governor. his free hand holding at his belt, the other clutching his silver revolver. "i was trying to make things clear. i could've killed you all. i didn't." the governor told, his lips upturned in the slightest, a mocking expression on his face. "and here we are." rick replied, lips twisted into a scowl.

the governor stared at the two, eye dancing between the two, both equally holding the same menacing look. the governor reached for the gun on his hip, the two men were quick, both raising their guns, clicking the safety off, two barrels aimed toward his head. lee's eyes dared the man to grab his gun, the governor held his hands up in surrender. "i'm gonna remove my weapon. show that i mean to negotiate in good faith, id like you to do the same." he told, hand slowly reaching for his weapon.

lee glanced to rick from the corner of his eye, "may i?" the man questioned, rick twisted his gun, slowly the governor unclipped his belt, removing his weapons in the process. he slowly hung the belt atop the hook in the wall, looking to rick to do the same. rick unloaded the gun, listening to the small clicking sound it made as he shoved it into its holster. he nodded slowly to lee, reluctantly the teen lowered his gun, clicking the safety on.
