DAWN HAD BARLEY made an appearance, the sun hanging lowly in the air, and the cold winds still blowing. colors painted the sky, different hues of orange and red tinting the blue sky. unsurprisingly, sleep had proven to still be an enemy of hers. even with being protected behind the walls, safe from the monsters both dead and alive, that roamed the earth. yet even then, it didn't help the dreams that plagued her mind.
she toyed with her knife, twirling it between her fingers. her body leaned against the porch railing, a crease between her brows and a frown on her lips. natalia had learned that the people of alexandria had been within the walls since the beginning, at first she thought deanna was joking, yet as the first week within alexandria passed by, the grimes girl realized she wasn't.
it was astonishing to the girl. how people could be sheltered from the dangers, not having to experience anything close to what the group had. natalia envied them in a way, envied that they'd never endured the things she had. they'd never killed anyone, they'd never had to kill their mother before she turned, they'd never been beaten so badly they could barley form a sentence, and that was what she envied. they'd never wondered when their next meal would be, or if today would be the day the dead would finally catch them. she knew she shouldn't of been envious of them, but she was, and she could stop the feeling that brewed in her chest.
they we're privileged, not having to endure the dangers outside of the walls made them privileged, yet it also made them weak. it was dangerous to be weak, not being able to keep yourself or the people you cared about safe; that made them weak. natalia was sure they'd be the first to go if something happened to alexandria, they didn't carry weapons either, none of them would last long. perhaps it was wrong to think how she did, yet that didn't hide the fact that she was correct.
the front door creaked open, the soft sound stealing the girls attention. looking over her shoulder she offered the women a soft smile before adverting her attention back to the sunrise. "it's early." michonne told groggily, moving to stand beside the girl who nodded softly, a small shrug to her shoulders. "i couldn't sleep." natalia told softly, shrugging slightly, her hair pushed gently behind her ears. her fingers twirled the blade in her hand, boredom catching up to her. michonne silently agreed, still unused to sleeping inside of a clean house. it was all a large shift in their normal day to day life's.
michonne folded her hands in front of her, her eyes focused on the sunrise natalia had been focused on. "rick, told me your on deanna's council with maggie." the woman told softly, her tone holding a sliver of admiration for the girl. the two both knew why natalia hadn't argued about being on the council, it simply meant they'd have two people on the inside now. two of their own figuring out what was being planned, what was being spoken of. "it's boring. all deanna does is talk about how great their walls are and how her husband accomplished it on it own." she mumbled, shaking her head at her words. she was mocking the woman, her voice slight up pitched and her eyes clouding with annoyance. "but we need our people to be close to deanna, stay on her good side." natali added softly, michonne stifled a small chuckle, lightly shaking her head at the girls words.
