THE ROOM SMELLED of lavender, it brought a strangely comforting feeling to her. it reminded her to much of her mother, she could vividly remember her mother using essential oils. each sunday morning when she'd clean the house she'd set up her oil defusers putting four drops of the lavender oil inside of it. it was lori's favorite scent, the laundry detergent matching.
natalia could briefly remember the smell of her freshly washed laundry, each smelling strongly of lavender. the room was filled of nostalgia, natalia wasn't sure weather she liked the remembrance of her past life or not. in a way she did, it made her think of her mother. yet it also made her remember her mother was gone, and it wouldn't be as if she was returning from the grocery store.
the room was squeaky clean, not a speck of dust on any of the surfaces. the books on the shelves were organized perfectly, and everything in the small office seemed to have its own spot. she felt entirely out of place in the room. she was the fifth to be spoken with, the woman deena wanting to speak to each member of the group. she'd requested natalia after lee had spoken with her, which didn't help the girls nerves.
she hadn't realized she'd become so antisocial. she felt anxious just to speak with the woman which she found ironic when she had held a man she'd never met at gun point back at prison. yet the mere idea of speaking to a woman she didn't know had her stomach twisting in each direction.
her finger twirled her hair around, she walked around the room. slim fingers tracing over the book spines. "natalia, right?" a voice sounded from across the girl. looking across the room, her eyes landing on a woman who stood behind the couch. her hands laid flat on the back of the couch, her slim fingers lightly clenching the material in her palms. she had short hair, a reddish hue, and a warm smile. she reminded natalia of her grandmother in a way. slowly natalia nodded her head at the woman, stepping away from the book shelf she leaned into the chair across from the couch. "it's so nice to meet you! i'm deana, welcome to alexandria." the woman smiled softly, her cheeks wrinkling up as she did so.
natalia offered a weak one in return, "do you mind if i record our conversation?" deana questioned, motioning to the camera she stood beside. natalia moved to sit down on the chair, lightly shaking her head as she picked at the skin around her nails. deana smiled warmly, turning the camera on with a small beep, a small red light blinked. moving deana sat down across from the girl, "you're dad says your group has been out there since the beginning, is that true?" deana questioned softly, only earning a slow nod from natalia.
her knee rapidly bounced, it was clear she was nervous. "how was that?" deana questioned softly, slightly tilting her head at the girl who furrowed her brows. "how do you think it was?" natalia retorted, raising her brows at the woman who let out a soft chuckle at the girls words. she was anti social, sure, but she wasn't going to answer idiotic questions. "my apologies." she smiled softly at the grimes girl, her hands folding in her lap.
