SHE WAS LONG USED to pain. she had been in nonstop pain for nearly two weeks, continuously since she woke up in the hospital bed she'd felt the never ending pain. the bruises littering her skin weren't the cause of it, rather the pain of slowly coming to terms that she wasn't getting out anytime soon. that her and beth were trapped, and with each day that passed, their people grew further away from them.

it was a burning pain within her chest, one that made her want to break down and sob all night long. knowing the chances of her seeing anyone she cared about were slim. seeing judith, carl, her father...lee, the chances were slim. and they were only growing smaller as the days progressed. she felt like she was letting them down, letting beth down.

both girls sense of hope was slowly diminishing as the seconds ticked by on a clock. her hands clutched tightly into the door knob, her other cleaning the glass window on dawns door. pressing to much weight on her leg made her want to crumble onto the ground in pain.

beth sent natalia worried eyes, both listening in on what the officer told dawn about noah. a faint grin on their lips, "that's your plan, huh?" dawn questioned, raising a brow at the man. o'donnel let out a huff, pitching the bridge of his nose. "we're gonna find him. lacari is out there right now. if there's any sign of him, we'll find him." o'donnel told, natalia rolled her eyes at the man. smiling weakly at the mere fact they couldn't find her new friend. "you just told me that your plan was on him screwing up. that's some active police work right there." dawn told, the two girls shared a glance. fighting back grins, both equally happy for noah. hoping he found his family, made it home.

dawn chuckled humorlessly. "was there anything else?" she questioned, tilting her head at the man who slowly nodded his head. "yes, actually, there was. the patent in exam room two, she was half dead when we brought her in. she's not looking so good." o'donnel told, the two girls stiffened. both knowing he was talking about carol, they shared a glance. slowing their actions of cleaning. "this isn't pin the tail on the donkey. are we really gonna keep wasting valuable resources on this lady?" he questioned dawn, hands on his hips as she only stared at him.

beth quickly turned to face the two, her hand weakly holding onto the mop. "how much electricity does your dvd player use?" she questioned, natalia slowed her actions. looking to her friend then to the two officers. the man looked baffled, looking to dawn then back to beth. "excuse me?" he questioned, the blonde took quick steps to the man. natalia let out a small sigh limping after her friend. "we have very limited resources here. you charge it every day." beth told, looking to natalia who quickly nodded in agreement.

dawn stood up straighter. "beth." dawn warned, the man looked to the women in astonishment. "that woman had been here one day." beth told, looking to dawn who gave her a harsh glare. "beth." she warned sharply, her tone leaving no room for arguments. "you preach about this place saving people, but your willing to give up on her after one day. it's ironic." natalia piped in, earning a nod from beth. thankful for the grimes girl backing her up. "pull the plugs. take her off the machines, tell edwards to take her off his rounds. if she pulls through on her own then fine, but your right she's not worth the effort." dawn told, keeping her eyes trained on the two girls as she spoke. natalia clenched her jaw, hands balking into fists.
