Coco smirked, adjusting her sunglasses as she leaned back in her chair. "You know, I just remembered something interesting," she said, her tone mischievous. "Towsons are known to be... well, let's just say, very fertile."
Yang, who was sipping her drink, almost choked. She coughed, her face going bright red. "Excuse me?" she sputtered, glaring at Coco. "What are you trying to say?"
Blake's ears twitched as she, too, turned red. She sank a little lower in her chair, her face half-hidden by her hair. "Coco, that's... That's not something you should be bringing up in public," she muttered.
Coco just laughed, clearly enjoying their reactions. "I'm just saying, you two might want to prepare yourselves. You know, for a whole pack of little Yangs and Blakes running around." She waggled her eyebrows, her grin widening as Yang turned an even deeper shade of red.
Yang shook her head, burying her face in her hands. "Why do you have to be like this?" she groaned.
Blake, meanwhile, shot Coco a glare, though it lacked any real heat. "You're impossible," she muttered, her voice a mix of exasperation and embarrassment.
Mina, however, didn't seem to understand what the big deal was. "What's the problem?" she asked, genuinely confused. "Having a big family is great! Look, I come from a big family myself." She pulled out a small, slightly worn photo from her pocket and unfolded it.
The group leaned in, looking at the image. It showed a lineup of short, curvy women, all with the same sharp features and mischievous grins. Each of them looked like they could be Mina's twin, though there were slight differences in their expressions and hair colors. Mina pointed to each one in turn.
"This is my mom, Tomoe," Mina began, her finger on the woman standing in the center. "And these are her sisters—my nine aunts: Hiroe, Miko, Asami, Yuki, Natsumi, Chiyo, Haruka, Sora, and Aiko." Her voice softened slightly, a touch of sadness entering her tone. "They were all tough, fierce women. They all fought during WW3. But... not all of them made it."
The group fell silent, listening to Mina as she continued, her eyes on the photo. "Aunt Hiroe died during an air raid, protecting a group of civilians. Aunt Miko... she was in a bombing that took out half a city block. Aunt Asami was shot down by enemy snipers. Yuki... she went down with her team, holding off enemy forces to give the rest of us time to escape."
Mina paused, her voice steady but clearly pained as she spoke. "Natsumi, Chiyo, and Haruka were caught in an ambush. Aunt Sora... she got captured. We... we never got her back." She swallowed, her eyes still on the photo. "And Aiko, she died during a chemical attack. They were all so brave. They fought until the end, for all of us."
The room had gone completely quiet, the earlier laughter and teasing replaced with solemn respect. Even Yang, who had been mortified moments earlier, found herself leaning in, listening to Mina's story with an expression of awe.
Mina looked up, her usual cheerful demeanor returning as she smiled softly. "So yeah, I'd be honored to have a big family like them. They were all strong, and they fought for what they believed in. That's all I could ever ask for."
Yang and Blake exchanged a glance, their earlier embarrassment forgotten. Yang gave Mina a small smile. "Thanks for sharing that, Mina. I guess... I guess there's nothing wrong with having a big family. Especially if it means being surrounded by people who love you."
Blake nodded in agreement, her expression softening. "Your aunts sound like they were amazing women," she said quietly. "I think they'd be proud of you."
Mina grinned, her sharp teeth glinting in the dim light. "Thanks, guys. And hey, if I ever get my own family, I'm gonna make sure they're just as badass as my aunts were."
