Inside the Joint Command Tent, tension was palpable as the leaders of the various forces gathered. The tent was bustling with movement, screens showing maps of the battlefield, radio chatter, and communication lines open to multiple units. The mood, however, was mixed with confusion and annoyance, as a particular issue had everyone on edge.
"Where the hell is Miho?" barked Lieutenant General Cole, frustration clear in his voice. He was leaning over the central map table, his brows furrowed as he looked up at the group of leaders gathered around him. The room fell silent for a moment, a few uneasy glances exchanged among the commanders.
Reeves, standing next to Cole, echoed the sentiment, shaking his head. "Yeah, why isn't the Ooarai Battalion at the camp? We should be coordinating this together."
Ironwood, always stern and calculating, adjusted his posture, his gaze narrowing in suspicion. He turned toward Winter Schnee, who was standing nearby, her lips pursed in clear annoyance. "Winter, do you think... your aunt Miho is pulling another '1940' again?" Ironwood asked, almost rhetorically.
Winter sighed, her expression a mix of resignation and exasperation. "Knowing Aunt Miho, I'd say there's a good chance she's gone rogue—again," she said, emphasizing the last word. She took a deep breath and crossed her arms. "She's probably doing what she calls her 'fast strike tactics.' It's what she does best: push deep into enemy territory and blow everything to bits without stopping for anything... or anyone."
Cole ran a hand over his face in frustration, turning to Glynda Goodwitch. "And the Ooarai Battalion? Are they out there with her?" he asked.
Glynda, who had been keeping a calm demeanor, nodded. "Most likely. When Miho decides to move out, her Battalion follows without hesitation." She frowned, her fingers tapping the edge of the table. "This isn't the first time Miho has done this. She's effective, yes, but her tendency to break from command could jeopardize the entire operation."
Sienna Khan, crossed her arms, her ears twitching with irritation. "She's steamrolling enemy lines, isn't she?" she said. "Charging headfirst into Grimm and Ultranationalist territory, without any support or coordination." She gave a small smirk despite herself. "Classic Miho."
Ironwood nodded in agreement, though his face was grave. "She lost contact with the main force, didn't she?" he asked Winter.
Winter's frown deepened. "Yes, sir. She's out there in enemy and Grimm territory, cutting her own path, as she usually does. She operates like Rommel, breaking through lines with sheer momentum, attacking anything that remotely resembles a threat." She paused, rubbing her temple with a sigh. "And of course, she's completely lost radio contact... again."
Reeves threw his hands up in frustration. "That's great. Just great. We've got an entire battalion out there in enemy territory, steamrolling like it's 1940 all over again." He looked at Cole, shaking his head. "What do we do? Leave her be, or try to get them back in line?"
Cole exhaled deeply, his eyes scanning the maps in front of him. "Miho's approach can be effective, but we need her here—coordinated with the rest of our forces. We can't have an entire battalion disconnected. If something goes wrong, they're completely cut off."
Sienna leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. "We need to get in contact with her. Even if she's gone deep into Grimm territory, we need that coordination. Otherwise, we're vulnerable."
Ironwood nodded, a resolute look on his face. "Agreed. Winter, Glynda, Sienna—we need a search and recovery team. Someone to get Miho and her battalion back to the main force. We can't afford to lose an entire battalion, especially not Ooarai's."
Winter gave a firm nod. "I'll prepare a team right away. With any luck, we can reach them before things get out of hand."
Cole nodded, his face hardening with determination. "Alright, let's get this done. Miho's tactics are reckless, but she's effective. We just need to bring her back into the fold before the entire operation falls apart. Reeves, get the comms team ready for any signals from Ooarai. Winter, prepare your team. We're bringing Miho back."
