Chapter 65: Bonds of Resistance

Atlas struggled to breathe, his chest rising and falling with desperation as the oppressive magic ebbed away. His eyes darted toward Future Creed, who loomed menacingly. For a moment, fear gripped him, but then the glowing mark on his hand flared once more, filling him with renewed strength.

“Acronia Coetus!” Atlas shouted. The spell erupted from him in a radiant wave, dispelling the suffocating darkness around them. The light cascaded outward, healing and empowering everyone nearby.

“Whoa… I feel amazing,” Darren exclaimed, flexing his fingers as a surge of vitality coursed through him.

“Yeah, like I could take on anything,” Nowell agreed, his eyes shimmering with renewed determination.

But Future Creed was unmoved. His blood-red eyes narrowed, and he sneered. “Shithead, give me the damn manuscript!” he roared, launching himself toward Atlas with deadly intent.

“Not on my watch!” Creed intercepted him mid-air, landing a powerful kick aimed at his future self’s chest. Future Creed staggered but caught himself, his grin widening. “Is that all you’ve got?”

Creed’s jaw tightened. “We’ll see.”

Darren stepped forward, summoning a shield of shimmering light to cover Atlas. “Let’s do this together, Creed.”

“Yeah,” Nowell said, joining them as they formed a united front.

Atlas watched in awe as his friends battled fiercely against Future Creed, trading blow for blow. His future self, however, pulled him aside, urgency written across his face.

“Atlas,” Future Atlas said, his voice low but firm. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

Before Atlas could respond, a pained cry rang out. He turned just in time to see Future Creed overpowering Darren and Nowell. A dark spear of energy materialized in Future Creed’s hands, and with a swift motion, he thrust it toward the trio.

The sound of piercing flesh echoed through the grove, followed by a sickening silence.
