Chapter 68: The Light Within
A golden light shimmered in the air, emanating from Creed. The glow intensified, and a figure began to emerge, bathed in radiant light.
“So, I was late,” the figure said softly, their voice tinged with regret.
Everyone turned toward the figure. Atlas gasped as he recognized a face similar to his own, yet older and filled with an unearthly grace.
“Huh, what is this? Some kind of magic show?” Future Creed mocked, though his voice trembled ever so slightly.
The figure ignored him, addressing Atlas instead. “I’m Larcade… Larcade Heartmiller,” he said with a serene smile. “I’m sorry, Atlas. I’m late. But I’m here now, and I’ll end this.”
“Who… who are you?” Creed stammered, staring at the figure in confusion. “Why the hell did you come out of me?”
Larcade glanced at him briefly. “I’ll explain later. For now…” His gaze shifted to Future Creed, cold and unyielding. “It’s time to erase you.” Future Creed sneered, though unease flickered in his crimson eyes. “You think you can defeat me? I’m—”
“You’re nothing,” Larcade interrupted, raising his hand. A circle of golden light appeared, pulsating with unimaginable power. “This time, I’ll turn your soul to ash.”
“No! Stop it!” Future Creed shouted, panic seeping into his voice.
But it was too late. The ring of light descended upon him, its radiance blinding as it consumed everything in its path. A deafening explosion followed, and when the light subsided, the battlefield was empty.
Future Creed awoke, his body wracked with pain. Shadows swirled around him as he struggled to his feet. “Where… where am I?” he growled.
“This is the realm of time,” Larcade said, his voice echoing from the void.
Future Creed whirled around, his eyes blazing. “What are you talking about? Show yourself!”
Larcade stepped forward, his expression calm yet filled with sorrow. “This place exists outside of everything. No future, no past, no present. Only stagnation. You’re trapped here.”
“You… you’re insane!” Future Creed roared, summoning a shadowy figure to attack.
Larcade barely moved. With a flick of his finger, the shadow dissolved into a cascade of delicate flowers.
“What the—” Future Creed’s voice faltered.
Larcade smiled faintly, tears glinting in his glowing eyes. “Goodbye, Creed. I hope… I hope we’ll meet again in a better time.”
Before Future Creed could respond, the realm began to fade, leaving him alone in endless silence.
