CHAPTER 33: The Whisper of Bloodline

As Atlas rushed towards his father's office, the noise from the guild's main hall echoed around him.

"A thousand gold for a manuscript? That's insane!"

"I know, right? I thought it was just a joke until I realized how dangerous that quest really is."

"Yeah, isn’t it about the Heartmiller family? I thought their bloodline was gone."

"They might be, but that manuscript is said to hold immense power—enough to turn the world upside down."

Atlas ignored the chatter, his focus solely on the quest at hand. Without hesitation, he strode to his father's office.

Pushing open the door, he found his father already holding the quest. "You're looking for this, aren’t you?" Gildarts asked, his gaze piercing.

"How did you know, Dad?" Atlas replied, slightly taken aback.

"You’re searching for your ancestor, aren’t you? I believe this is the quest meant for you. In fact, I think it was designed specifically for you," Gildarts said calmly.

"But why? Why did it appear on the guild's quest board?" Atlas questioned, his eyes narrowing.

They locked eyes for a moment. Gildarts sighed, sitting down as he took a deep breath. He held the quest paper out to Atlas, then pricked Atlas's finger with a needle, letting a drop of blood touch the parchment. Instantly, the paper transformed, its appearance changing before Atlas's eyes.

"There’s magic in this quest, a spell that only the Heartmiller family can break," Gildarts explained. "And now it has revealed itself to you."

Atlas stared at the paper, astonished. "A map…? It’s showing me a map," he murmured, confused.

Gildarts shook his head. "I can’t see the map. Only you can, Atlas. The magic is bound to the Heartmiller bloodline. You are one of them, Atlas Heartmiller."

Atlas turned his gaze toward his father. "The time has come, Atlas," Gildarts said, his voice laced with sorrow. "It’s time for you to uncover the truth about your family."

Atlas smiled gently, stepping forward to embrace Gildarts. "Don't worry, I still accept you as my father. No matter what happens, I will always trust you first, just as you have always believed in me. You are my father, and nothing can change that."

Gildarts held him tightly, the fear of losing the boy he had raised almost overwhelming him. "Before you go, there’s something I must tell you," Gildarts said, his tone becoming serious. "The story of your parents... and the demon who took their lives."
