CHAPTER 36: OUT OF THE TOWN
Morning had arrived, and Atlas woke up, only to find Creed sleeping beside him. “Didn’t I sleep on the floor last night?” Atlas mumbled to himself, confused. He stood up and glanced at Creed, who was sleeping peacefully like a child. “He does look kinda good. Can’t lie about that,” Atlas thought, before shaking his head. “Wait, what? Why am I thinking that... Eww, he’s a demon!” Atlas shook his head, trying to rid himself of the thought.
"Good morning," Creed said, yawning as he woke up.
"Oh, good morning," Atlas replied.
"Suddenly so polite? What’s up?" Creed smirked.
Atlas couldn’t help but show his annoyance. "I’m just trying to be nice, okay?" he said. "If you want to join me, get ready. I’m leaving soon."
And just like that, they both prepared for their first adventure together. Atlas was busy investigating the quest he received. “Where is this place? I can’t find it,” he muttered, staring at the map in frustration.
"Why are you staring at that quest like it has something important on it?" Creed asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh right, I forgot only I can see the location," Atlas realized. "Oh, nothing. I just like reading it," he added quickly, hoping Creed wouldn’t press further.
They began their journey toward Kendirk Forest, a place known for its dangerous creatures. “This place looks cool,” Creed remarked out of nowhere.
"It feels like a place where demons would spawn," Atlas said, feeling the eeriness of the forest.
Suddenly, Atlas felt something crawling on his foot. His face turned pale. "Uh, Creed, is there something on my foot?" Atlas asked, too scared to look down. The sensation was unsettling, and his mind raced.
Creed knelt down and examined his foot. "Oh, it’s just a leech," he said nonchalantly.
"A leech?" Atlas’s face drained of all color, and without warning, he fainted.
"What the hell? Did this kid just pass out from a leech?" Creed muttered in disbelief, shaking his head.
It was almost evening when Atlas finally woke up, shouting, "Ugh! Leech!" He panicked again.
Creed promptly smacked Atlas on the head. "Shut up, kid!" he snapped.
"Ouch, that hurt!" Atlas groaned, rubbing his head.
Atlas quickly noticed the leech was gone and realized Creed had removed it for him. Smiling, he said, "Thanks, Creed."
Creed was caught off guard by Atlas’s sudden smile. "I’ve never seen him smile like that," Creed thought, surprised at the moment of gratitude.
