CHAPTER 41: VISIONS AND DISTRACTIONS
In hell, “Welcome back, Lord,” a figure was kneeling before Creed.
“Kent, I need your help,” Creed said to the kneeling figure.
“What is it, my Lord?” Kent replied.
“I need you to find information about the Heartmiller family,” Creed ordered, his voice filled with curiosity.
“As you wish, my Lord,” Kent responded.
Meanwhile, in the human realm, Atlas had finished washing up and was getting dressed. He glanced at the mirror, noticing the afternoon light filtering through the room.
“Wow, time flies these days,” Atlas murmured. His eyes shifted to the table near the window, where the book he had brought from home rested. “I guess I can take a look at this for a bit,” he said, sitting down.
He opened the book, Stellaria Coetus, and began reading.
"A star trembles in the deep, a fading spark unseen,
Its light unweaving threads of truth no hands can clean,
Silent skies cradle what was once a burning fire,
Now lost to time’s cold breath, beneath a sky grown dire."
As Atlas read, a sudden vision struck him. He saw a town in chaos—people dying, demons ruling over the world. He glanced around, seeing people fighting desperately for their lives.
“Where am I?” Atlas wondered aloud, fear creeping into his voice.
Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him, sending chills down his spine. It was the same ominous voice from before, whispering, “The time is coming.”
Atlas turned, and standing behind him was a figure, neither human nor demon. The figure spoke again:
“The threads of fate in silence tied, where heart shall speak, and fate's begun.”
And just like that, Atlas snapped back to reality, tears streaming down from his left eye.
“What was that?” he whispered, shaken by the experience. An uneasy feeling stirred in his heart. “I don’t think I should have taken on this quest,” he muttered.
“But for the sake of my bloodline, I have to find this manuscript. I have to end this family curse with me,” Atlas said, trying to convince himself. He wiped away the tear, still rattled. “But what did that thing say to me? None of it makes sense. This is getting more and more confusing,” he added, his frustration rising.
He stood up, deciding to clear his head. Just as he was about to leave, Creed appeared in front of him, stopping him before he could touch the doorknob.
“Where are you going?” Creed asked.
“A nearby restaurant,” Atlas replied. “If you want to follow me, let’s go.”
Creed nodded, and the two of them went out for lunch. After eating, they wandered through the town and eventually sat under the same tree from their previous visit.
“Hooman, is something bothering you?” Creed asked, noticing Atlas’s mood.
“Oh, nothing,” Atlas said, trying to hide his face.
“What is it then?” Creed pressed.
“I was just reading a book, trying to figure out what it means,” Atlas admitted.
“Oh, okay,” Creed replied, sensing Atlas’s reluctance to talk further.
They sat quietly for a while, relaxing under the tree. Then, without warning, Atlas stood up and began walking away. Creed followed behind him.
“Hey, hooman, where are you going?” Creed asked.
“I’m just sightseeing around town,” Atlas replied.
As they walked, a group of people began to tease Creed, captivated by his striking appearance. Men and women alike flocked around him, making Creed visibly uncomfortable.
Atlas smirked, enjoying the scene. “Have fun, Creed,” he said, laughing.
“Hooman, help me!” Creed said, his discomfort growing.
“HAHAHA!” Atlas laughed harder.
“You’re so handsome! I like you,” one of the admirers cooed, edging closer to Creed.
Creed closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, his expression had transformed into something truly terrifying. “If you want to feel the fires of hell, I’ll be happy to show you,” he growled menacingly.
The crowd quickly scattered, running in all directions.
“Don’t you think that was a bit rude, Creed?” Atlas asked, still smirking.
“Ooh, that felt amazing! I want to do it again,” Creed grinned, clearly enjoying the reaction.
