TODAY WAS BONNIE'S BIRTHDAY, and everyone had prepared a birthday party at the Salvatore house even if the guest of honor wouldn't show, they did it anyways because they knew it's what she would have wanted.
Kate was stuck in the kitchen making Bonnie's favorite cupcake's, red velvet with a white topping on top. "Ugh! It smells amazing." Elena grinned, stepping into the kitchen, Kate hummed, placing the final cupcake onto the spinning tray.
"Thank you." Kate smiled, wiping her hands down. Just then Damon walked in, rubbing his hands together.
"You think we could sneak one before the party?" Elena whispered to Damon, eyeing the woman washing her hands.
"I think Caroline might fry us in the sun." Damon replied cocking his head.
"It's worth the risk." Elena smiled brightly. Damon took a cupcake, allowing the vampire to take a bite. Elena moaned at the sweet taste.
Kate spun around and leaned against the counter. "You're lucky I made extras." Damon shot her a wink as Kate walked out the room, into the living room where she found Stefan, placing a couple birthday presents by the table.
"Hey, where's Caroline?"
Stefan turned around. "Uh, she and Ethan went to search for Miss Cuddles in the woods after Caroline had burred her when she and Bonnie were little."
Kate smiled, looking over to the 1994 version of Miss Cuddles. "Gosh, I remember when I found Caroline burying the bear in the woods and she paid me in m&ms to keep quiet."
Stefan crossed his arms and chuckled. "Sounds like Caroline." Kate turned around, noticing that she was covered in flour and sweat.
"I'm going to go shower before the party." Kate scrunched her nose, removing the apron around her waist. Stefan smirked, slowly stepping towards her. "Care for some company?"
Kate chuckled lightly. Stefan held her waist tightly, inching down to feel her pulse against his lips. "Okay, okay, fine. But quickly before someone needs us."
Stefan picked her up, Kate squealed, looping her arms around his neck. "All I need is a cape to feel like Superman." Her laugh echoed throughout the house while Stefan raced them upstairs to his bedroom.

After their second shower that morning— because the first one didn't really count. Stefan headed out after getting a call from Ethan who needed a some help with Caroline digging up half the ground while Elena and Damon dealt with Kai who just happened to stop by.
Kate wondered down the stairs when she heard Elena, Kai and Damon in the dinning room talking. "I can't bring Bonnie back with this." Kai declared, dropping the ascendant.
