Elena had an idea, in order to forget about someone's dearth was to distract yourself from it, that's why they stood in his bedroom with buckets of paint, Elena had them painting Alaric's old room which also happened to be Jenna's old room.

"Going darker, huh?"

Kate glanced up from the paint brush over to the door, spotting her boyfriend looking handsome then ever, a smile grow on her face seeing him.

"It's the only color we had." Kate tells him, standing up moving towards the wall opposite of Elena.

"That's what happens when you decide to paint your dead guardians room in the middle of the night." Jeremy recalled the late night conversation the three siblings had with coffee.

"I don't suppose anyone tried to talk you guys out of doing this... so soon." Stefan says stepping into the room, taking his hands out from his jacket.

"We have to keep moving." Elena says, moving across the room, refilling her brush with more paint. "Otherwise we'll start thinking, and we don't want to think."

"You want a hand?" Stefan offers to help them, Kate turned around seeing that his eyes were already settled on her, she smiles going to nod when something else interrupted.

"So are you guys, like, dating to something?" Jeremy says ruining their small moment, Elena shook her head scolding him.

Kate tilts her head refusing to answer, she didn't think it was the right time to say anything about their relationship. "Jer, really, now?"

"I was just checking up on you guys," Stefan says saving her from humiliation. "seeing how you were doing. After, uh, after everything."

Jeremy eyes him. "We're fine, but if you are trying to be the good guy again, why don't you do the right thing and give us one day. Just one day without any vampires in it."

Kate glared at the teens head watching him walk out the door, she dropped her brush back into the bucket walking towards Stefan. "He didn't mean that."

Stefan exhaled deeply. "Yeah, yeah he did." Elena frowns watching them when the doorbell downstairs rang. "I'll get that." Stefan pats her arm walking out the room.

That morning Kate and Elena had spent their time painting the bedroom walls, she didn't know where Stefan had gone to leaving them alone to finished their work, tossing down a wet towel when her phone began to rang, she flipped it over reading the name.
