"Our fugitive is a known associate of the serial killer Red John," explained Kirkland. "She's wanted for murder, conspiracy, kidnapping, and weapons violation."

She cleared her throat. "I sold Lorelei's sister." Kenzie's eyes grew wide in astonishment.

"I'm sorry. Sister? I don't remember reading anything about a sister in Lorelei's file."

"Miranda– that was her name..."

"Where is Miranda now? We need to talk to her."

"She... she was murdered. She's dead."

"Hey, Kenzie."

"Patrick–"

"I need your help."

"Hold on, what's going on? Have you been kidnapped?"

"Yes. I'm in fear for my life." It doesn't sound like it. "I can't talk long."

"If she catches me on the phone, she'll kill me. What happened to Miranda?"

"That's what I was trying to tell you, hadn't you kept interrupting me? They don't know. They don't have a suspect. But I think I know who it is. There was a message that was carved into the floor. It was Roy. Patrick, I think Red John killed Lorelei."

"Just stop!" yelled Lorelei. "God, you're just like him, you know what? Relentless manipulation."

"I am nothing like him," Patrick hissed, staying on the ground.

"How would you know?"

"I know. I only wonder why both you and Kenzie didn't become lifelong friends the moment you three shook hands."

"I'm not lying to you," said Patrick.

"There's something that you're not telling about Red John," said Kenzie.

"I've told you everything."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"You sure? If I remember correctly, there's a possibility we shook hands with him." Patrick's face fell. "Yeah. So, what? You didn't think I would figure it out at some point?"

"What else did Lorelei tell you?"

Kenzie scoffed. "Oh my god. That's what you care about?! Lorelei?!"

Patrick looked at her. "Are you jealous?"

Kenzie glared at him. "Don't do that. Don't fucking joke right now. What is it about Lorelei that is so trustworthy to you?"

"She needs to find out that Red John killed her sister. You know that."

Kenzie's voice broke. "And I don't... need to know about who killed my father? Patrick, there is a huge possibility that he killed my father. Yet, Lorelei is more important... than me."

"No. No. It's just... Kenzie, we're this close. This close to catching him, and I need her."

"Do you trust her more than me? Is that it?"

"No. No. I do trust you."

"Then, why didn't you tell me about Lorelei the first time?"

Oh my god. I love her.
