Kenzie let out a pleased chuckle before leaning back with a pant. She stared down at Patrick with a smile. They didn't have to be at work for a couple more hours, and she wasn't really tired, so they decided to make the most of their morning.
Patrick gripped her hips a bit tighter, grinding them down on him. She let out a moan, resting her hands on his chest. The moans grew a bit louder until...
The doors slammed open. Kenzie yelped, throwing the blanket around herself. Nicole avoided eye contact as she quickly closed the door behind her.
"And you were complaining about me buying a new house," remarked Patrick.
Kenzie hit his shoulder and got off his lap. "Shut up." She bent down, picked up one of her large T-shirts off the floor, and put it on. "Come on."
She turned around to see Patrick lying in bed with a pout. Kenzie playfully rolled her eyes and smiled at him. His smile got bigger. With a smirk, she bent down, grabbed his shirt, and threw it at his face. "Let's go. You're just gonna have to wait later."
The four of them barely spoke as they walked down the street to the new house. Nicole's cheeks were still red. Teresa rested her hand on her stomach. Her bump wasn't really showing much. Someone would have to squint really hard in order to see it.
They walked inside to see an empty living room. Patrick wrapped his arm around Kenzie's shoulders.
"Wow," Teresa chuckled. "You actually did a good job."
"Of course, I did," scoffed Patrick.
"You sure you want to do this?" Kenzie asked. "I don't want to be too stressed out with the wedding and the baby."
"For the last time, yes."
"Alright," Kenzie raised her arms in defense. "You said that we needed to do a last-minute meeting."
"Well, you two still need to pick your dress and suit. There's a whole load of other things."
Kenzie brushed it off with her hand. "We got time." She turned to Patrick and placed her hands on his cheeks. "How's your head?"
"It's fine," he answered. "Ears are still ringing a little." She glanced at him, and her eyes immediately darted to the chain around his neck. "Is it me, or does it seem like the house slants a little bit to the left?"
"It doesn't," Nicole called out from another room.
"You're not wearing your wedding ring," Kenzie muttered.
"I'm not married."
"Yet."
"Yet. This ring has been with me for a very long time, and, uh... it had obvious significance with my past. It also represents... meeting you. If I hadn't had this ring, I wouldn't have met you. So in a sense, uh... it has the potential to represent my future, as well. And I-I'm not expecting you would ever wear it, but I want to share it with you, and... I want it to represent our future... together."
Kenzie softly chuckled, giving him a quick kiss. The two groaned as a bright light flashed in their faces. They rapidly blinked.
"Really," Patrick groaned.
"We need pictures," said Nicole. "Also, consider it payback for this morning."
Teresa immediately turned around and shoved a pair of magazines in their hands. "These would look so good!"
The couple grimaced, shaking their heads.
♥️
Kenzie avoided questions about the wedding at the office. Given that she was already living with the maid of honor, she honestly needed a break from it. Nicole was still pissed that the couple didn't sleep in separate beds. In all fairness, Kenzie did try, but when she woke in the middle of the night, she found herself lying in Patrick's arms. So, she just didn't fight it.
