The scene opens in the Elite Force Tower's living room. Chase is slumped on the couch, staring blankly at the floor, the weight of Reese's betrayal evident in his expression. Bree sits beside him, her hand resting on his shoulder, while Kaz, Skylar, and Oliver linger nearby, unsure of how to help. Terry Perry strides into the room, clipboard in hand, her usual boisterous energy muted as she addresses the group.
Perry: (clapping her hands) "Alright, listen up, people! Mr. Davenport has sent backup to help out while Chase recovers from, you know, being totally played by evil Barbie."
Chase: (looking up, his voice hoarse) "Backup? What kind of backup?"
Perry: "Relax, Chasey-boy. Douglas is already at the nearest hospital, and your backup is... a girl from the academy. Her name's Diana."
Bree's eyes widen slightly, her curiosity piqued.
Bree: "Diana? Wait, I think I've heard of her. Isn't she the one with bionics almost identical to Chase's?"
Perry: (nodding, smirking) "Ding-ding! That's the one. Honestly, she's like your girl version, Chase. The two of you could be twins if she wasn't, you know, way cooler."
At the mention of Diana, Chase straightens up slightly, a flicker of interest replacing the dull pain in his eyes.
Chase: (softly) "I trained her."
Perry: "Yeah, yeah, great story. Anyway, she's on her way. Try to, I don't know, not scare her off with all this mopey energy you've got going on."
Moments later, the elevator dings, and Diana steps into the room. She's tall and athletic, her posture radiating confidence. Her long, dark hair is tied back, and her sharp eyes scan the group before landing on Perry.
Diana: (grinning) "Well, if it isn't the short woman herself. Still as loud as ever, I see."
Perry: (rolling her eyes) "And you're still as annoying as ever. Lovely reunion. Now go say hi to the others before I change my mind about letting you stay."
Diana laughs and walks past Perry, heading straight to Bree.
Diana: (smiling warmly) "You must be Bree. Chase told me a lot about you."
Bree: (smiling back) "All good things, I hope."
Diana shakes hands with Bree, then turns to Skylar, Oliver, and Kaz, greeting each of them with a firm handshake and a friendly smile.
Finally, her gaze lands on Chase. Without hesitation, Chase stands, his expression softening. Diana doesn't give him a chance to say anything—she strides forward, wraps her arms around his neck, and jumps. Chase catches her effortlessly, her legs wrapping around his waist as he holds her tightly.
Diana: (softly) "It's been a while, Chase."
Chase: (smiling faintly) "Yeah... it has."
Without another word, Chase begins walking toward the hallway leading to Mission Command, carrying Diana as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Skylar, watching the interaction, turns to Bree with wide eyes.
Skylar: "Okay, since when is that a thing? Who is she to Chase?"
Bree: (grinning) "Diana isn't like the students we trained. She's more like family. Her father was Mr. Davenport's best friend, and she grew up with two older brothers. Her life's a lot like ours."
Kaz: (smirking) "So... does she have a boyfriend?"
Bree: (warning tone) "Don't even think about it, Kaz. Brokenhearted or not, Chase is super overprotective of her. He'd never let another guy near her."
Meanwhile, in Mission Command, Chase sets Diana down, and the two immediately fall into familiar banter as they prepare to spar.
Diana: (teasing) "You sure you're up for this? I wouldn't want to embarrass you in your own turf."
Chase: (smirking) "We'll see who gets embarrassed."
The sparring begins, and Diana's movements are fluid and precise, perfectly mirroring Chase's style. The two exchange blows and counterattacks, the intensity growing with each passing second. Finally, Diana gains the upper hand, pinning Chase to the ground.
She sits atop him, her knees on either side of his waist, and leans down, her face inches from his.
Diana: (softly) "You don't have to hold it all in, Chase. It's okay to let it out."
Chase's breathing is heavy, his emotions raw. For a moment, he says nothing, then finally, he lets out a shaky sigh.
Chase: "Reese... she used me. Everything I did, everything I felt—it was all a lie."
Diana: "No, it wasn't. She's the one who lied, not you. You're better than this, Chase. And I'm here to remind you of that."
Without waiting for a response, Diana leans down and presses her lips to his. Chase hesitates for a moment before kissing her back, the tension in his body melting away. Diana pins his arms above his head, her grip firm but gentle, as if silently telling him to let her take control.
For the first time in days, Chase feels a sense of relief, a flicker of hope that things might eventually be okay.
Chase: (softly, as they pull apart) "You always did have a way of getting through to me."
Diana: (smirking) "That's because you've always been a little too easy to read."
The two laugh softly, the heaviness in the room lifting as they begin to talk, Chase finally allowing himself to let go of the pain he's been carrying.
