Viya walked towards Lawrence's office calmly. She wore new clothes that she had 'borrowed' from Piper and Rhea. Dark green cargo pants that were way too long for her, an old band tee with illegible letters, a black long sleeve underneath. She had stolen one of Piper's old pairs of shoes, the soles were about to give out–but they were shoes nonetheless.

"Ah, Viya." Lawrence said with a smile as she stepped into the room.

"Morning," She greeted.

"How have you been?"

"Good, and yourself?"
"Ah, I've been better." He admitted.

Viya tilted her head to the side, "Why is that?"
"Oh it's nothing." Lawrence assured, "Please, sit down."

Viya did as she was told, she sat down on the red coach, crossing her legs.

Lawrence poured tea into two blue ceramic mugs, he ignored the drops that fell onto the concrete floor. He walked over to Viya, handing her the blue mug. The warmth instantly hit Viya as she took a sip.

"Sorry about the heating issues," Lawrence said as he sat across from Viya, "I have a group working on the generators but they rusted over the summer and don't seem to be warming up."
"Oh it's fine, might need some extra blankets though."

Lawrence laughed as he set his mug down on the coffee table. "Unfortunately I didn't summon you just to have a chat," he admitted, "I know I'm obviously the type of person you'd like to hang out with."

Viya smiled as she took another sip of her tea.

"I mostly wanted to check in on how you've been doing," Lawrence explained, "So tell me, how did the first week go?"
Viya hesitated for a moment, "It's been good." Viya said, "Overwhelming at first, but I'm getting used to it. I no longer need Piper to give me directions every time I leave."

"Have you gone out since Gally took you the first time?"
"I have, Piper took me out once to show me the street cats, then Gally took me out again." Viya said, "You have quite the community here."
"Well there is still lots to do, Rome wasn't built in a day." Lawrence said, "Have the other kids been treating you alright." Lawrence asked as he sipped his tea.

Viya laughed slightly, "You don't have to supervise me."

"I know, I know."

At first, Viya had seen Lawrence as some sort of mob boss, the type of person who couldn't care less about others. But after conversing with him a few times and hearing stories from the others, her original assumptions couldn't have been further from the truth. He valued community over everything, he had meticulous plans to make sure everyone had their needs met. He was like a kindergarten teacher watching over his students.

The only people that feared him were the ones who had wronged the community. Despite his appearances, he seemed to have good intentions.

"Remember, if you ever need something you know where to find me." Lawrence said, "I also wanted to put an offer in." He said after a long pause, "You're free to decline, there's no pressure, but I was wondering if you'd like to join one of the expedition crews."

"A what?" Viya asked.

"Expedition crew, they're the guys I send out when we need supplies or a Crank sweep."

"How would I go about that?"
"Well I'd probably start you off with the basics, gathering and handing out supplies, maybe a few crank sweeps, then I'd move you onto attending some rallies and maybe even a few dangerous jobs."

Viya hesitated, "How dangerous?"
"Not that much."

"I'll do it." Viya said after a long pause.

Lawrence smiled, "I thought you'd say yes."
