Viya dug her heels into the ground as she desperately tried to escape the grasp of the two boys who held her. Even with her mind being disoriented, she still felt fearful and angry. No matter what she did, they continued to drag her. She had tried everything, fighting back, screaming, going limp, but nothing worked, the boys kept ignoring her pleas of mercy, and just kept moving her forwards.
The sun was almost about to dip behind the maze walls, orange colored clouds dotted the sky, if she wasn't in her current circumstances she would've loved to watch the sunset.
Her body still ached from the griever stings, her entire body pleaded to be given a break, despite this, Viya forced her head up as she watched herself get closer and closer to the crowd of boys huddled around the doors to the maze.
In one final attempt, she slammed her feet into the ground as hard as she could and tried to bite one of the boy's arms. For a second she believed herself to be successful, but the other boy pushed her head forwards and forced her legs to give out by kicking her in the back of the knee.
"You can't just banish me!" The girl cried out as she was walked closer to her inevitable death.
The blond boy to her left laughed, "After what you've done, I wish we could do more." He remarked.
Viya grunted as she looked up to see dozens of faces staring back at her. She was pushed into the circle, landing on her hands and knees. Her long black hair fell in her face as she used her hand to push it away. She wobbled to her feet as she stared back at the Gladers.
Some faces looked sorrowful, as if they regretted what was to come. Others were filled with rage, as they were unable to sympathize with her. Some faces were neutral, as if they wanted this to be over with so they could go back to their meaningless jobs.
Her violent eyes glared back at those she once called friends, she thought that they'd all support each other in their highest and lowest, but clearly there is only so low a girl can go before everyone abandons her. Even in the pit, no one dared to visit her, in fear they'd be outcasted.
Viya glanced up as the doors began to creak, the first sign that they were about to shut. They weren't just going to keep the grievers in tonight, they were going to contain Viya too.
"Poles!" Jax yelled, his voice slicing through the silence.
Viya watched as the cluster of boys lowered their wooden sticks and slowly started to inch closer to her. Nobody wanted to be associated with a violent dog.
She watched the poles move towards her before her hateful glare looked up at Jax. The leader of the Gladers face was indifferent, as if she was just a fish that needed to be flushed down a toilet. Viyas stare narrowed as she looked at Jax, she knew what he has been doing, and this was his way of getting rid of her.
Her eyes scanned the crowd, she met the eyes of her fellow runners, who she once used to think as her closest friends, but here they were, sending her to her death. She met the terrified stare of the Greenie who had come up five days ago. The short haired blond boy's eyes were wide with terror, he couldn't believe what was happening. Viya recalled her being told his name, the muscular blond boy went by 'Ben', short for Benjamin, some even called him 'Benji'. Truthfully, Viya had never properly spoken to the boy, she had better things to do with her time than entertain the Greenies, they were always so curious about everything, especially about her. She had always hated being the only girl, it was always so isolating.
As Viya sorted through the crowd, spending a few seconds recalling each face, her eyes stopped on Minho. The tall asian boy looked down on her, and she couldn't help but smile up at him, her smile eerily creepy, it sent a whole message in itself. This had all happened because of him, if she wouldn't have gone running with him that morning, none of this would've happened. Minho had been her closest friend, the pair was in the original group that had first come up, they quickly became close friends, and grew even closer when they both became Runners.
But that was all over now. This was the last time she'd look at him, before she was delivered on a silver platter to the grievers.
Viya watched as the poles inched closer and closer towards her, she briefly looked behind her as the doors started to close.
A sudden feeling of fear appeared in her chest, as without thinking she tried to push her way through the poles, but it was no use, because her body moved slower than her mind, so her moves were easily predicted, and the sticks would close in on whatever weak spot she attacked.
"Move in!" Jax shouted, and like worker bees, everyone obeyed.
They forced Viya towards the jaws of the maze. She stared at any boy who would meet her gaze, begging them to stop this, but nobody did. And as she met Jax's gaze for the last time, she swore she saw the boy smirk.
Viyas hands moved outwards, and she felt the cold stone of the maze press against her hands as it kept forcing its way closed, her arms were pushed towards her, and for a second she thought of letting herself get crushed. But she couldn't bring herself to do it, so she walked backwards until she was fully in the maze. She saw Minho out of the corner of her eye, his eyes were wide with terror, as if he just realized what was happening.
As the doors closed, Viya let out what had been building in her chest the entire time. She screamed as loud as she could, her voice cutting through the closing crack of the doors, and even once it closed, her voice reached over the walls of the maze and filled the Glade with her anger.

Teresa stared at the computer screen in astonishment.
"I can't believe they actually did it..." Thomas muttered in shock.
"You said this wouldn't happen!" Teresa exclaimed. "You said, and I quote: "They wouldn't banish her because she's the only girl"." Teresa threw her hands up in frustration as she turned back to the screen.
Teresa watched as Viya paced up and down the hallway silently.
"What are we going to do now? The plan won't work if she's dead." Teresa stated, still fixated on the screen.
Thomas paused. "You're right."
"I know I am!" Teresa shouts in frustration. "You said her getting stung would only make her get some of her memories back. Not go insane!"
"Well I wasn't counting on her getting stung five times." Thomas defended himself."Yeah, well you didn't think to program the griever to only sting her once, maybe twice?"
"It's never stung someone more than once!""That doesn't mean it couldn't!"
Thomas angrily spins his chair away from the girl.
"Is there any way she can survive this..." Teresa muttered to herself.
"She doesn't just have to survive this, she has to survive until trigger, which at this rate is years away..." Thomas grumbled back.
Teresa sits up in her chair, an idea popping into her head. "Wait a minute..." She muttered under her breath.
Teresa quickly sorted through the tabs on her computer until she found the map of the maze. Thomas had spun around after hearing the girls frantic typing.
"What is it?" He asked as he scooted closer to Teresa.
"There." She said as she pointed to the screen. "That's her safe zone."
"You're a genius." Thomas complimented as he put together the plan that Teresa had formed in a matter of seconds. The pair didn't need to talk about it, they had been close for so many years that they understood what the other one met, even if they had only spoken a handful of words."I know." Teresa said smugly, "Let's just see if she can find it."
