People stared at Viya as she was paraded through the rickety building. People looked up from their work as she passed by. Her grey standardized WCKD uniform stuck out like a sore thumb. Her hands were still tied behind her back–probably because she tried to bite the man when he tried to untie her.
She was led down a ramp, the first thing she noticed was the plants that covered ever edge of the room. They hung from the ceilings, they clung to the walls, anywhere a plant could go, there was one placed there.
"Who's this?" A man asked as he turned around.
The one side of his face was covered in barnacle-looking blobs. His nose looks as if it was rotting away and his one eye was clouded over.
Viya subconsciously recoiled.
"We found her when we intercepted the car." the woman answered.
"Why'd you take her?"
"She seemed important, she was the only thing they seemed to be transporting." She said calmly, "They usually at least send three, maybe two, but never one."
The man paused before he took a step towards her. He stared Viya in the eye, and it took all her strength to keep her head up proud.
"Untie her."
The scrawny man stepped forwards, Viya shot him a look, "Don't try to bite me this time..." He muttered. He unraveled her wrists gently, Viya rubbed her hands as she brought them to her face."Give us a moment."
The goons obediently stepped out, leaving Viya alone with the half-dead man.
"Take a seat." He said, motioning towards the red coach.
Viya hesitated before she sat down.
"What's your name, child?"
"Viya.""Lawrence." He extended his hand.
Viya hesitantly shook it, his skin was rough and uneven.
"What do you want with me? Going to dissect me? Sell me?"
"Maybe," He shrugged, "Depends on how our conversation goes."
Viya adjusted her weight slightly, trying to hide her fear.Lawrence stood up, "You hungry?" he asked, as he grabbed a can off of a wooden desk in the corner.
Viya took the can skeptically, she sniffed it carefully.
"Don't worry, there's nothing in it."
Lawrence sat down across from Viya, he stared at her, waiting for her to take a bite. She slowly consumed a bite, swallowing without chewing. Lawrence smirked.
"Now, tell me, where'd you come from?"
"WCKD, you already know that.""But what facility?"
"How the hell am I supposed to know?""Fine, what do you know?"
Viya tilted her head to the side."What useful information do you have about WCKD?"
"Trust me, I know nothing.""I don't believe that."
"You want the full story?" Viya asked.
Lawrence nodded.
"Fine," Viya agreed, "I was in a maze, bunch of other kids were to. And then we escaped the maze." Viya took a long pause. "They found me in the mountains–I had escaped a few weeks ago and they tracked me down. They scooped me up, cut me open, then put me in an all white room. They left me there for a couple days, then took me out and..." Viya's voice trailed off.
