Chapter 43

Ely POV

'Taka.' I ran towards the eagle. 'It's good to see you, little one. But let's not waste any time and start training.' 'What do we want to do?' 'There's a jutsu that only we can do together and we're going to train it today. Shadow won't be there.' I looked at Taka in surprise. 'Didn't you mean that only we can do this jutsu?' 'Yes, that's what I meant, but you and me.' I just nodded and we went to a wide meadow. I climbed onto his back and Taka took off.

We practised this jutsu for several hours and somehow it wouldn't work. Until I had an idea. 'Taka, I'll activate my Mangekyō Sharingan and then we'll try this jutsu again, but a little differently.' 'Alright.' I activated my Mangekyō Sharingan and now tried to transfer my chakra to Taka again. When I realised that it really worked this time and we were now in sync, we both shouted at the same time. 'Jutsu of the feather spears.' At that moment, Taka fired his feathers at a target. These were equipped with both our chakras and were as sharp and pointed as spears. When the feathers reached their target, there was a huge explosion.

'It worked, Taka.' I laughed with joy and was more than happy that we had managed it.' 'Yes, we did it. Thanks to your idea, we saved a lot of work. We just need to practise this a few more times.' And that's what we did for the rest of the day.

Sakura POV

Where is she? Ah, there's Sensei Kakashi up ahead, maybe he knows where she is. 'Kakashi-sensei, where's Ely?' 'Oh, Ely is training with Shadow and Taka. She won't be back until tonight. Can I maybe help you with something?' Inwardly, I had to stop myself from screaming. Not a subject you want to discuss with a man. 'Ehm... No, Ely already knows what it's about and can help me better with it.' 'Okay.' I turned and walked away.

Then I guess I had to wait until Ely got back and then I really needed to talk to her. Oh, I can't wait that long, but I'm afraid I have to wait. It's going to be a very long afternoon.

Sasuke POV

I was just standing in the Hokageoffice. In a kind of disguise, of course, so that no one would recognise me. 'Thank you.' I looked at Tsunade in surprise. 'For what?' 'For saving Ely. She doesn't speak a word to me at the moment, but she means a lot to me. She's the only family I have left, apart from Shizune.' I could only nod in response. If it was necessary, I would give my life for Ely. After giving Tsunade my report and some more information, I made my way to Ely's appartment and snuck in. She was probably still out, so I'd better make myself comfortable.

Ely POV

I was more than just exhausted in the evening. The training was more strenuous than I had expected. Now I just wanted to go home. 'There, hold on tight and I'll take you back to Konoha.' 'Thank you, Shadow.' When we arrived back in Konoha, I snuggled into Shadow's fur once more and then said goodbye to him. I just wanted to go to bed. So, I ran to my appartment, unlocked the door, threw my shoes in the corner and was just about to undress when I was startled by a clearing of a throat and turned round. Quite embarrassed, the voice in front of me said. 'Ehm... could you maybe...' My eyes widened and I turned bright red in the face. I was standing in front of Sasuke in just my bra and one pair of trousers.

As fast as I could at that moment, I ran to my room and quickly changed into something else. Oh, this is so awkward. After I had changed my clothes and my face was somewhat back to a normal colour, I walked into the living room. 'S-S-Sasuke, what are you doing here?' When he turned round, I could still see how red he was around his nose. 'I wanted to visit you. I've reported to Tsunade and thought I could drop by.' I just nodded and then sat down on my sofa. Sasuke sat down next to me. 'Ehm... Where have you been?' 'I was training a new jutsu with Taka.' He nodded understandingly and a pleasant, yet somehow strange silence fell.

Suddenly, Sasuke turned in my direction and I turned in his direction too and our heads got closer and closer, and I closed my eyes and then...
