Ely POVA few weeks have now passed since the bell test and my first encounter with Naruto. During these weeks we have completed a wide variety of D-rank missions as a team and have continued to grow together. I've been seeing a lot of Naruto over the last few weeks, and we've become best friends, and we've also been eating at Ichiraku's ramen several times. Kakashi has helped me with some of my jutsus over the last few weeks and has also taught me a few new ones. Today I was sitting in the Hokage Tower because Kakashi is on a mission, and I shouldn't stay at home alone. Grandfather Sarutobi didn't have time for me either, so I went off on a stroll. I stopped in front of a door and opened it. There were a few scrolls in the room, but one scroll caught my eye straight away. I walked to the scroll and took it out of its holder. I sat down on the floor with the scroll, which was really big, and opened it. <Wow, so many different and difficult jutsus> I thought to myself. I tried to memorise the descriptions and hand signs for the following jutsus: Summoning Technique, Flying Thunder God Technique and Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder. I closed the scroll again and headed back to Grandfather Sarutobi's office.
'Grandfather, would you teach me one of your jutsus?' Grandfather Sarutobi looked at me in surprise. 'I'd be happy to do that. What do you say I take you to the training ground tomorrow and show you a jutsu?' I nodded euphorically and sat down in a corner to read one of my books or to improve my skills as a sensor ninja. Because every time someone came, I tried to recognise the person by their chakra and whether it was just one person or several.
The next day we finally went to the training ground, where Grandpa Sarutobi taught me his Five Release Great Combo Technique. After a few attempts, I managed the jutsu. It required shadow clones and I had to use several elements, which I did, and accordingly I learnt this jutsu quite quickly. 'Well done, Ely. I'm very proud of you and the progress you've made over the past year.' 'Thank you, Grandpa, and thank you for showing me this jutsu. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to go find Naruto and spend the rest of the day with him.' 'You go ahead. Just don't be late home.' As soon as he had finished his sentence, I ran off and waved to Grandpa Sarutobi once more.
After a short search, I found Naruto near the river. 'Naruto, here you are. I've been looking for you.' Naruto turned round in surprise and when he saw me, he grinned all over his face. 'Hello Ely-chan, sorry. Why were you looking for me?' 'We were supposed to do something together, or did you forget?' Naruto immediately raised his hands in defence and then scratched the back of his head. 'Maybe a little. Let's go get something to eat.' Without waiting for my answer, Naruto pulled me in the direction of Ichiraku's Ramen. Together we sat at Ichiraku's and ate our ramen. Or rather, Naruto was inhaling his fifth bowl, and I was still on my first. I have no idea how he can eat so much. These thoughts made me smile. 'Ely-chan, what's it like to be a genin at such a young age?' 'Mh... Quite all right, actually. We train a lot and go on all sorts of D-rank missions.' We spent the rest of the day up on the Hokage stone faces and talked about the days we hadn't seen each other. The people here can be so cruel. Naruto didn't deserve this. It's not his fault that the demon fox was sealed inside him. He was only a baby, but I firmly believe that he can do great things.
Several days have passed since my meeting with Naruto. Nao, Ryoko and I were waiting for our sensei. He has something important to tell us. 'Ah, here you three are already. I hope you're not waiting too long.' We shook our heads and Ryoko stood in front of us as usual and looked at our sensei sceptically. 'Then what's so important now that you've summoned us here?' 'I see, very impatient as always, Ryoko. As you've probably already heard, Konoha will be hosting the chunin exams again this year. I have decided to register you for it. Because I think you're ready for it, despite your age. What do you think?' Ryoko was immediately enthusiastic. Nao and I weren't quite as enthusiastic. Were we really ready for it? Many genin from the other villages would be coming here for the chunin exams. They're all older than us. Would we really stand a chance? Ryoko turned to Nao and me as if he had read our thoughts. 'We may be a lot younger than everyone else, but we have each other. We're an incredibly good and well-rehearsed team. The others don't stand a chance against us.'
So, it was decided that Team 4 would take part in the chunin exams.
