Chapter 40

Ely POV

'Don't be angry with me, but I don't know if I'm ready to reveal this.' Sasuke looked at me with an indefinable look. 'I understand that. I wouldn't trust me yet either, after everything I've done. You should go back to Konoha. Your way back will probably take about two days and when you're ready, let's meet at your favourite clearing five days from today. Under the cover of darkness, of course. Then we can talk again.' 'All right.' I stood up and picked up my things.

Sasuke looked at me again and then spoke to me. 'You're not wearing my necklace at all. Still wearing that other necklace. Why?' 'When we meet in the clearing, I'll tell you why. Thank you for saving me.' I smiled briefly at him and then disappeared from the cave. Off to Konoha, Tsunade gets an earful.

Sasuke POV

I removed all traces that might indicate that I had been there and made my way back to the hideout. My thoughts wandered back to Ely. She had grown and become even more beautiful. I had promised Tsunade that I would protect Ely if I had the chance, and I always will. I just hope that she can really forgive me. I also know that everyone else will have to forgive me at some point and unfortunately, I won't find out any time soon whether that will be the case.

Ely POV

After two days, I finally arrived in Konoha and went straight to the Hokage Tower. I ran up the stairs and knocked on the door to Tsunade's office. 'Come in!' I opened the door and stepped through. 'Ely, glad to see you're unharmed. I've already received your scroll. Good work.' 'I'm only unharmed because your spy saved me.' I was angry, upset, disappointed and also somehow hurt. 'What do you mean, my spy?' 'You know exactly what I mean. The same way as his brother?' Tsunade looked at me apologetically. 'There was no other way. How else would we have managed to sneak him in there? Besides, I'm the head of the village, I don't have to justify myself.' 'I can take good care of myself. I don't need a guard dog.' Tsunade looked at me questioningly.

'I'm not stupid, Tsunade. I could already guess that you asked him to protect me. I don't need protection. I was careless, that may be, but I'm not helpless!' With that, I stormed out of her office and headed for my old home.

'Kakashi, are you home?' A grumble signalled to me that he was home. I walked into the house and sat down on the floor in the living room. 'Hello, Ely. What are you doing here?' 'I want to train. Not this ridiculous training to learn new jutsus, but real training.' Kakashi looked at me in surprise and thought for a moment. 'I think I have the perfect training partner for you.' Now I was the one who looked surprised. 'Who do you mean?' 'Neji Hyuuga. You're both on a completely different level to the others. I think you can both learn a hell of a lot from each other.' I thought about it for a moment and had to agree. 'You're right about that. I can well imagine that.' I stayed with Kakashi for a while, and we talked about different training methods.

In the evening, I walked back to my appartment and entered it. Oh, I don't think I have anything edible left at home, well then, I'll probably have to go shopping tomorrow, but now I just want to go to bed. I literally fell into my soft and warm bed and fell asleep faster than I had expected.

The next morning, I put on my normal clothes and then set off on my shopping trip. I needed enough food for when Kakashi dropped by again. After putting everything away in my fridge or cupboards, I put on my training clothes and walked to my favourite clearing. On the way there, I was stopped by a shout and turned round. 'Oh, hello Neji. What gives me the honour?' 'Kakashi asked me if you and I would like to train together. I think it's a very good idea and wanted to ask when we want to start.' 'Ehm... I'm actually on my way to a clearing right now, but if you have the time and inclination, we can go to one of the training grounds right now and train together.' 'I just need to get something from home, but let's meet at the training grounds in half an hour.' And he was gone again.

Half an hour later, we were at the training ground. 'My question would be whether I should use my Byakugan or not.' I looked at him and knew that I now had to tell him about my Kekkei Genkai. 'Use it, because I'm going to use mine too. But you mustn't tell anyone, because they don't know about it.' 'What do you mean?' I closed my eyes and felt the familiar tingling sensation; when I opened my eyes again, my Sharingan was activated. 'I'm half Uchiha, so I inherited the Sharingan from my father.' 'Then neither of us will have to hold back. I promise I won't tell anyone about this.' 'Thank you, Neji.'

My thoughts briefly wandered to tomorrow. Will I really be ready to tell Sasuke everything?
