The Tale of Ely Senju

Chapter 13

Ely POV

'Is everything all right?' 'Not really, Taka. Shisui won't be there to welcome me. I miss him so much.' 'I wonder what happened. Do you know if he was on a mission?' 'No, I don't think he was on a mission. I have a really bad feeling about this. One day I'll find out what happened.' 'Are you looking forward to seeing everyone else?' 'Absolutely. I can't wait to see Kakashi, Nao, Ryoko, Naruto and Grandpa Sarutobi again.' The rest of the flight to Konoha went very smoothly. I'll be home soon.

Taka landed near the Hokage stone faces. 'Thank you, Taka, for bringing me here.' 'I was happy to do that.' With a puff, Taka was gone. I took a quick look around but didn't see anyone. Well, I'll walk home then. I had barely taken a few steps when I heard someone shouting my name. I turned round and was surprised to see Naruto, Nao and Ryoko running towards me. 'Naruto, Nao, Ryoko, what are you doing here?' 'Welcoming you, of course.' 'That's so sweet of you.' I gave all three of them a hug and together we walked to the Hokagetower, as I still have to report back to Grandpa Sarutobi. On the way there, Ryoko and Naruto walked a little ahead of Nao and me. 'How do you know Naruto?' 'Oh, Naruto often went to the clearing with the lake, where you always liked to go, to see if you were back. We then started talking and promised him that if we knew anything, we would let him know straight away. This morning, Sensei Jumo told us that you were coming home today, and then we collected Naruto and travelled through Konoha to surprise you.' 'You're the best friends anyone could wish for.'

Nao, Ryoko and Naruto stopped in front of the Hokagetower, and I ran up to tell Grandpa Sarutobi that I was back. 'Grandpa, I'm back.' 'Hello Ely, it's nice to see you again. You've grown a bit too. What do you say you tell me about your training tomorrow evening?' 'I'd love to. I'll have to ask you something too.' 'All right, see you tomorrow evening then.' After my conversation with Grandpa Sarutobi, Naruto, Nao, Ryoko and I walked to Ichirakus for a delicious noodle soup. We talked about all sorts of things, such as what had happened here in the last few years and exactly where I had been. I made plans to meet Naruto the next day, because I wanted to know if he and Sasuke were still so hostile towards each other. Nao and Ryoko told me that we would most likely be given a more difficult mission in the next few days. This would then take place in co-operation with the other teams who had become genin with us. We were also good friends with them.

After the delicious noodle soup (I had missed it so much), I ran home to surprise Kakashi. Only I was surprised myself, because he wasn't there. From the looks of the house, he'd been on a mission for a while. In my room, I put my bag on the table and took out the necklace Shisui had given me. I must ask Grandpa Sarutobi what happened with the Uchiha clan.

The next morning, I sat outside in my favourite clearing and looked out at the lake. The light always reflected so beautifully on the water, and I loved the sight of it. 'Ely!' I turned round to see Naruto running towards me. 'Hello Naruto. Well, what's new?' 'That idiot, he thinks he can do everything better and is so great.' I couldn't help but grin. 'What has he done now?' 'He's a total show-off and all the girls just fall for him.' Ah, that's where the wind comes from. 'Which of the girls do you like?' He's starting to daydream too, oh boy. I waved my hand in front of his face and when that didn't bring him out of his daydream, I punched him, only not as hard as I did in training with Tsunade, that wouldn't have gone so well. 'Naruto, you didn't answer my question.' 'Oh, sorry Ely. Her name is Sakura. She has pink hair and always wears a red ribbon. Oh.' It looked kind of cute the way he was blushing. Someone must have been in love, but if I classify it correctly, this Sakura is one of Sasuke's fangirls. Poor Naruto. 'Are you learning something or are you just making mischief?' Embarrassed, Naruto scratched the back of his head, so he's just making mischief, but he still has a few years to go. 'How was your training trip?' 'It was just amazing. I learnt so much and am now a trained medical nin. But I missed you all a lot.' Naruto and I were talking about my training trip, and he was so interested, it was kind of cute.

When I went to see Grandpa Sarutobi that evening, I was stopped by Sensei Jumo. 'Ely, wait a minute. Lord Third doesn't have time. We're meeting Nao and Ryoko in a moment. A very important mission awaits us.' 'All right. Shall I get ready already?' 'That would be good, we'll leave straight away.' I ran home as fast as I could and got changed quickly.

Nao and Ryoko were already waiting at the meeting point. 'Hey, you two. Do you know exactly what the mission is?' 'Unfortunately, not. The only thing I know is that the other teams are already on their way. It must be a very important mission.'

'Ah, you three are already here. I'll get straight to the point. There are problems with Kirigakure. Your mission will be to retrieve a scroll. I'll be on another mission with some other jonin during this time. You must be careful and work together as a team.'

Hopefully our training and skills will be sufficient for this mission.
