Chapter 42

Ely POV

Sasuke stood up and walked a little forward, his gaze fixed on the lake. 'So that's what Itachi meant.' I looked at him puzzled. What did he mean by that? I didn't interrupt him and just listened. 'After I went to Orochimaru, I tried to get in touch with Itachi and we met recently. I wanted to hear it directly from him again. He looked at me afterwards and said that the Uchiha clan wasn't as innocent as it pretended to be. He meant exactly that, that the clan had your parents killed and also hoped or assumed that they would have wiped you out in the process.' He turned back to me and walked towards me.

'I'm sorry. I was so blind and idiotic. You suffered so much more and yet you were always so kind and sweet to me. Can I ask you for something?' 'Of course.' 'Would you show me your Mangekyō Sharingan and maybe tell me how you awakened it?' I thought about it for a moment and then nodded. I closed my eyes once more and when I opened them again, my Mangekyō Sharingan was visible. 'Beautiful. Just like you.' 'Thank you, Sasuke. Did you hear about the deaths of my two teammates?' Sasuke looked at me in surprise for a moment but then nodded. 'When I saw their lifeless bodies lying in front of me, all I felt was an incredible burning sensation and when I opened my eyes again to fend off the attack, I had not only awakened my Mangekyō Sharingan, but also the Susanoo. I was able to defeat the one who had lured us into this trap, but I was far too weak myself. My chakra was barely there. I had lost my two best friends that day.' I pushed my sleeve up a little and then showed my bracelet. 'Nao had given the three of us this bracelet. Each pearl was supposed to symbolise one of us and since only one is still shining, it means that I'm still alive and the other two pearls have faded because Nao and Ryoko are no longer alive.'

Sasuke looked closely at the bracelet. 'It's beautifully crafted. Did your teammate make these herself?' 'Yes, Nao was incredibly talented in that respect.' We talked for a while longer. 'I should go back, don't want anyone to get suspicious. Thank you for telling me this.' 'I thought I should be honest, too.' Sasuke was suddenly so close to me. I closed my eyes and only felt him place a kiss on my lips and when I opened my eyes again, he was gone. I put my index finger on the spot where he had kissed me and blushed slightly.

I walked straight to my appartment and sat down on my bed, then took out the necklace that Sasuke had given me and looked at it again. There was something written on the back of the star, but I couldn't make it out. Should I ask Sasuke what it was all about the next time we met?

I fell asleep with that thought.

I was woken up rather rudely the next morning. 'Get up! Get up! We have a lot planned for today.' With half-open eyes, I saw Shadow standing next to my bed. 'Shadow what are you doing here?' 'Don't tell me you've forgotten. You're coming to our realm today and we're going to train together.' Right, there was something. Oops, I probably almost forgot. 'I'll get changed and then I'll inform Kakashi first and then we can go.' 'Quickly then. Taka is already waiting for us.' 'Yes, I'm already doing it. You're always so impatient.'

I quickly got ready and then went in search of Kakashi. Shadow followed me wherever I went. All we saw was something green whizzing past us. 'I think we should hurry, don't let those two have another one of their duels or whatever.' Shadow and I ran off and got to Kakashi before Guy did.

'Kakashi?' A tousled Kakashi came out of the house and looked at me in surprise. 'Is everything all right?' 'I just wanted to let you know that I'll be training with Shadow and Taka in their realm. Just for today. I'll be back tonight.' 'Okay, I know all about it. Have fun then.'

I turned to Shadow. 'Let's get going then.' He just nodded and poof, we weren't in Konoha anymore. Let's see what's in store for me.
