Chapter 38

Ely POV

I took a closer look at the necklace, and it was a moon with a star and the Uchiha symbol in the centre. It was a beautiful necklace. I put it in my bag because I didn't want to take Shisui's necklace off. There are so many memories attached to it, and I don't know who the other necklace is from. I had an idea, but... No, it couldn't be. So now it's time to prepare dinner. No sooner had I finished dinner than Kakashi was at the door. 'You'd think you couldn't live without me.' He just waved me off and walked into my appartment. We sat at the table and ate our food. Sometimes you don't need words.

The next few days were relatively the same. In the evening, before everyone left for the chunin exams, we girls sat in the barbecue and ate together. 'It's getting kind of weird. Our team only consists of Choji and me. But since none of Sakura's team is here, she'll be our third member.' I looked at Sakura at that moment. I knew she missed them, but she wanted to go her own way, and she would. She's no longer the helpless girl she was the first time. Training with Tsunade, Shizune and me has brought her a lot further and I know she won't give up. We all sat together for a long time, ate and laughed a lot. It was a wonderful evening, and I said goodbye to everyone and wished them good luck and success. My mission would start very early and unfortunately, I couldn't really say goodbye to everyone.

I got everything I would need for the mission ready in my appartment and then went to sleep. A new day and off to my mission. I got dressed quickly, took everything I needed and ran out of my appartment, locked it, checked out with my two favourite gatekeepers and then left the village.

My mission, simple really. Observe one of Orochimaru's hideouts, then infiltrate and destroy it. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate stakeouts? Oh, I hate this do nothing and wait and see thing, but on the other hand it's quite helpful because it makes good plans come together. I positioned myself so that I had a good view of the entrance. Nothing happened for the first few days, nothing at all. Then suddenly things started to move, and more people left the hideout and new ones arrived. The longer I watched who came in and out of the hideout, the more I could imagine what was waiting for me there. I observed the hideout for a total of six days and after these days I had all the information I needed and now made my plan, but never lost sight of the entrance. When I was sure of my plan, I put it into action. Suppressing chakra and into the hideout.

It was very labyrinthine and there were many dangers, but I could sense every chakra and knew how many were where. That was my advantage for now. I gathered so much information in a scroll and then I would take care of everything else. The only strange thing was that many of the chakras suddenly seemed to have disappeared. I had to keep that in mind, but first I had to plant the bombs and then get out of here. I had planted the last bomb when I was attacked from behind. How stupid do they think I am? But I couldn't activate my Sharingan, so Taijutsu had to do the trick. Five opponents and I only used taijutsu, but it was far too easy. Get out of here, but quickly.

I ran out of the hideout as fast as I could and set off the bombs at the same time. As soon as I got out, the hiding place exploded. Done!!! 'If it isn't The Deadly Rose. Your days are numbered.' Where did this guy come from? I really had to use every jutsu I knew. How strong is this guy? Bloody hell. He pushed me closer and closer to a cliff. I really had to.... UFF!!! He caught me with an inhumanly strong punch that I couldn't dodge, and I flew backwards and down the cliff.

Before I lost consciousness, I felt arms catching me and saw a blurred person. Who saved me?
