Chapter 24

Ely POV

"Taka, Grandpa Sarutobi could have won against Orochimaru, what was going on that he lost?" "He didn't fight Orochimaru directly, but the first and second Hokage." My eyes widened in shock. How could he? "Taka, could you please see where Naruto is?" "I'll be on my way." I had to find Kakashi. I ran through the streets and arrived at the arena and teleported behind Kakashi. "Kakashi, is everything okay here?" "Everything is settled, Sanna. What about the third Hokage?" Now Kakashi and Guy looked at me expectantly. "Unfortunately, he didn't survive the fight. He had to fight the reanimations of the first and second Hokage." Both turned their eyes towards the ground.

After making sure that everything was all right, I quickly teleported home and changed my clothes before walking through the streets again. I wanted to see if there were any more injured people. But it seemed that most of them had already been treated if they were still alive. I hoped that Taka would find Naruto quickly. I myself ran back to the arena and just saw Kakashi trying to leave. "Wait, Kakashi. I'm coming with you." "Then come." Together we set off in the direction where Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke were supposed to be. Taka met us halfway.

"Taka, did you find Naruto?" "Yes, you're on the right track. I'll fly ahead of you. Just follow me." "Thank you, Taka. When we get there, you're welcome to go home." I looked briefly at Kakashi as we jumped from branch to branch. "Is everything really all right?" "More or less. It's good to see that you're okay. Where have you been?" "I didn't get to say goodbye. I had a mission and only came back maybe an hour ago and was greeted by a huge snake and Suna nins. What the hell happened here?" "I'll tell you everything later." Then silence returned.

"Up ahead, Kakashi." We hurried and I jumped straight to Naruto and looked at his injuries and healed them. "Naruto, are you alright?" He looked at me with a cheeky smile on his lips. "Yes, I'm just incredibly tired. I think I've used too much chakra." "Get some rest. I'm going to check on the other two." I ran to Kakashi, who was standing with Sakura and Sasuke. "Sakura, are you hurt?" "No, I'm not hurt, but I think Sasuke is hurt." "Okay. Could you help Naruto get up?" Sakura nodded and walked straight to Naruto. Kakashi wanted to see if there were any enemies in the immediate vicinity. I knelt down in front of Sasuke and looked at his injuries and his curse mark. I sealed the mark and began to heal his injuries.

Sasuke POV

Her red hair. She looked so focused as she sealed my mark and healed my wounds. "There, your injuries are healed. You should still go to the hospital, just like Naruto." She had a slight smile on her lips and then turned briefly to the other two. I continued to watch her. All of a sudden, Kakashi came back. "Ely, everyone all right?" "So far, yes, but Sasuke and Naruto should still go to the hospital." She then turned to me again and smiled at me. I just managed to get her red hair out of my dreams and now she's kneeling in front of me and has healed me and then that smile. I can't deal with this!

Ely POV

"Kakashi, I will go back to Konoha and see if and where else I can help. I think you'll get the three of them back to Konoha safely." I said goodbye to all four of them and teleported back to Konoha. Since my help was not needed, I went home. I waited for Kakashi there and he came home sometime later. We both sat on the floor in the living room and Kakashi began to talk. When he mentioned that he and Sasuke were almost late for Sasuke's match, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Typical, Kakashi. "During the fight between Sasuke and Gaara, the attack happened. The third Hokage was trapped in a kind of barrier and the spectators were put under a genjutsu. Sasuke went after Gaara and his teammates. I then sent Pakun, Sakura, Naruto and Shikamaru after them and defeated the enemies together with Guy. Why didn't anyone notice that it wasn't the Kazekage?" "Orochimaru is unbeatable in this regard, and you don't know what else happened up there. Tomorrow, Grandfather Sarutobi and the fallen shinobi will be buried. It's going to be a long day."

The next day we all stood in the cemetery and remembered and honored the fallen. Oh, I'm not a fan of funerals. It's the first one I've consciously attended, but I've lost so many people who are incredibly important to me. My eyes wandered to Naruto. He still looked pretty shaken up. Even though he had probably given Grandpa Sarutobi a lot of gray hair, he also saw a grandfather figure in him.
