The Tale of Ely Senju

Chapter 19

Ely POV

The next day began relatively uneventfully for me. Kakashi and I sat together on the terrace and talked. 'Has Naruto complained about the missions being far too easy?' 'More than once, but unfortunately, he always tries to outdo Sasuke and gets into trouble, which Sasuke gets him out of. Since this big and difficult mission, the rivalry between the two has increased many times over. I would never have thought that this was possible.' 'I don't think it will change that quickly.' 'Most likely. They've already forgotten the concept of teamwork. If I hadn't already had grey hair from birth, I would definitely be getting some now with these two.' That made me start laughing out loud and Kakashi grinned to himself too. No matter what he says, he's grown fond of the three of them.

After our conversation, I made my way to my favourite clearing. On the way there, I saw Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke standing together and talking from a distance. Actually, it looked more like Naruto was trying to make an impression, Sakura was upset and Sasuke was trying to ignore them both.

Naruto POV

<Next time I'll be the shining hero and not that idiot. Sasuke here Sasuke there.> My eyes wandered around the area when I saw Ely standing a few metres away from us. 'I'm off then. Bye.' I ran towards Ely, who was already looking at me suspiciously. It seemed to me that she was sadder than anything else. I'm definitely going to find out what's going on. 'Ely, what are you doing here?' 'I wanted to walk around Konoha a bit and then go to my favourite clearing. How was your mission?' 'Fine. He always has to be the hero, but on the next mission I'll be the hero and he'll be begging for my help.' 'These missions aren't a competition. You're supposed to show what you can do as a team and develop as a result. You're both being childish.' 'I'm not childish!'

Ely POV

'I'm not being childish!' Now he's sulking, but he's definitely not childish. (noticing the sarcasm) He's my best friend, but sometimes I'd like to smack him. That's not going to work. Thank God it's not my job, it's Kakashi's. He'll still have fun with the two of them. 'What do you say we go out for noodle soup?' One of the sentences that brings a sparkle to Naruto's eyes. 'Oh, yeah. Let's go!'

Sasuke POV

After saying goodbye, Naruto ran towards the girl who had been standing in front. I've seen her before, but where? She's probably just as big a loser as Naruto. I've never seen her at the academy. Sakura always knows everything, let's see if she knows anything about the girl. 'Sakura, do you know who that is with Naruto?' 'Oh, um... That's Ely. Ino told me something about her once. Ely recently became a jonin and graduated from the academy at the top of her class when she was five. She's incredibly talented.' Hn. Then why is she hanging out with that loser? I said goodbye to Sakura and walked home. The last thing I thought about before I fell asleep was why she was hanging out with Naruto and her flaming red-looking hair.

Ely POV

After the noodle soup, I said goodbye to Naruto and made my way to the ANBU headquarters. There I got my equipment and was assigned to a team. My first mission would take place in a few days. My name as ANBU would be Sanna and my mask reflected a wolf. I was ready to become even stronger and gain a lot of experience. From what Kakashi had told me, I already knew that life as an ANBU wouldn't be a walk in the park.

Back at home, I sat down on my bed and stared at the mask in my hand. There's no going back now and I'm going to do my best.

I thought I'd include Naruto's and Sasuke's POV. This is the first time Sasuke has really seen Ely and learnt something about her.

Currently the version with Sasuke as love interest has four votes and is ahead, but as I said, I'll let you know in time when I close the voting.
