Avery had always been a morning person

Avery had always been a morning person. Even though she loved sleeping in, she also truly didn't mind waking up early. What did bother her, though, was being woken up by loud noises.

Luckily enough, JJ had learned it by now.

He quietly stepped back inside the room, tiptoeing over to Avery's side of the bed. JJ leaned besides her and lightly brushed the hair out of her face. His fingers lingered gently on her skin, his heart skipping a few beats here and there just like it always did whenever he was near her. He'd gotten used it to.

JJ pressed light kisses all over her face, keeping his touch gentle so he wouldn't startle her. Avery stirred a little, but stayed completely put.

"Ave," He mumbled against her skin, his patience starting to wear thin. JJ was seconds away from shaking her awake, but if he wanted a happy Avery to wake up - he had to refrain. "Princess,"

"Mhm," She groaned, eyes fluttering open. JJ stopped pressing his lips all over her face, his mission accomplished. "Don't stop."

JJ chuckled in response, watching as she scooted towards the middle of the bed - subtly inviting him back in. He couldn't exactly say no, so he slipped back into bed with her. "You had enough kisses last night to last you a lifetime, princess, don't be greedy."

Avery pouted, rubbing her eyes so she could properly look at him, "I will never have enough of you, pretty boy." She flirted, watching a slight pink color tainting his cheeks. "How come you woke me up?"

JJ was suddenly reminded of the reason why he came back into their bedroom in the first place. "Perfect day to surf." He shortly announced, an excited smile on his face.

"Say no more." Avery smiled back, lightly pushing him out of bed. "Come on, get up! We already wasted enough time."

JJ laughed at her, shaking his head as he obeyed her orders. She shooed him out while she got dressed, letting him know she'd join them downstairs.

"Yeah, baby, now that's a perfect swell. It's probably the best of the year." JJ checked his phone as the rest of them waxed their boards out on the deck.

"Come on. Are you guys seriously surfing today?" Pope asked, walking past them with a backpack slung over his shoulder.

"Oh, don't. Don't." John B muttered, discouragement obvious in his tone.

"As opposed to what?" Kie asked, eyes following the boy.

"Well, I don't wanna sell the million dollars I have in my hand for 50k. So I'm gonna look into this." He told them, gesturing to the amulet he held wrapped in a cloth.

"Wait. Pope, you just heard me, right? I said it's a perfect swell day. I mean, Avery got up for this." JJ said, as if he couldn't believe Pope would skip out on this.

"Yeah, and there'll be other swell days."

"Oh. Wow." Kie said as the three girls gasped, knowing this was going to bring another argument from JJ - and they were right.
