KABANATA CIV
Third Person's POV
"After everything that you have done to us, my lady—rest assured that your sister will be safe here with me. I'll protect them with all my heart," sagot nito na siyang umani ng maliit na ngiti mula sa dalaga.
Both of them moved their gaze to the sun already peeking from the horizon. It was almost sunrise, and Lukariah hadn't regained consciousness yet. They've been watching her body for any signs of danger, but luckily there's none and they were able to regain their energy back by resting the whole time.
"Break that if ever you're all in danger, I'll come as quick as I can," dugtong niya na tinanguan naman nito.
"Thank you, my lady," Everly's gaze remained in Zerta's face for a few seconds, thinking how could someone like her be involved in such dark creatures.
She's starting to believe that there could be more like her and Lady Ganesha trapped in the dark coven as well, mistreated and misinterpreted by many.
Tuluyan na siyang nagpaalam dito at naglaho upang bumalik sa pack.
***
She took a deep breath, the weight of the night's events pressing down on her.
The crunch of leaves underfoot made her tense, but before she could react, a familiar voice called out.
"Everly!"
Greyson's figure emerged from the shadows, his face etched with worry. He ran toward her, his usually calm demeanor completely shattered. Before she could say anything, he pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Don't do that again," he mumbled against her hair, his voice shaking with relief and fear.
"I'm just taking a walk. Stop overreacting." Her tone was cold, cutting through the tension like a blade.
Every knight in the place looking for her remained silent and bowed their heads—hiding the pity in their faces for their own alpha.
Greyson stared at her, his concern giving way to confusion and hurt, but before he could respond, Everly vanished in another burst of light.
Back in her room, the exhaustion finally overtook her. She barely managed to shrug off her cloak before collapsing onto the bed. Her body ached, her magic depleted, and the weight of her decisions pressed heavily on her chest.
