"When we first met him, Jesus said our world was gonna get a whole lot bigger." Adriannas steady voice was loud and assertive as she spoke. "Well we found that world. We found eachother. That bigger world is ours by right." All three communities had most fighters meeting in this field and all of their attentions were on her. "Any person who lives in peace and fairness, who would find common ground, it's their right too. But those who use, take, and kill to carve out the world to make it theirs alone, we end them. We dont celebrate it but we don't have shame about it either."
"There's only one person who has to die and I will kill him myself." Rick spoke up. "But if it's the others who prop them up, stand by his side, then so be it." He stood tall next to Adrianna and Ezekiel. The faces of all the survivors in front of them reminded them of what they were fighting for. "We keep making the world bigger, together." Rick finished.
"Together. Bound forever." Ezekiel exclaimed. "To quote the bard 'for he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother'" He placed a hand on Ricks shoulder and then one on Adriannas. "For she today, my sister." He said with a grin as Shiva roared out from the back of a truck.
"We've practiced." The attention went back on Adrianna. "We've been through this over and over again. We all know this doesn't end this morning.
That we may have to live in uncertainty for days, maybe more." This fight was going to be extreme but they were going to win. "That we have to keep faith in each other. If we can hold onto that with everything we have, the future is ours." She paused and looked around the huge group. With a deep breath she spoke. "The world is ours."
People cheered in agreement and went back to getting ready for the fight. They planned to attack after what happened in Alexandria. Dwight had left a note for Adrianna saying he didn't know the scavengers were going to attack Alexandria. He also sent them a list of savior outposts with the promise of letting them know when something was happening. It was soon followed by the fact that the saviors had the groups machine guns and most of the explosives hidden at an outpost. The communities prepared cars and themselves for battle. Some helped the others with taking out some outposts. They had done a lot of work already but it wasn't over. Everyone knew it wasn't going to be easy but they knew what had to be done. They just wanted to live in peace.
"It's one person who brought it to this. One person." Rick said to Adrianna as they walked or more so limped over to talk to Maggie.
"It's always starts with one person. This did." She replied, motioning to the dozens of people around.
"We're here now because of you." Adrianna added.
"This-" Rick shook his head. "This isn't about me."
"It's not." She smiled at him. "You made it that way." They cut their conversation short as they approached Maggie. "You up to this?" Adrianna asked the pregnant woman.
She nodded. "I need to be there, at least for the first part. They say you can wage war during the second trimester." She joked with a smile. Rick and Adrianna chuckled at her comment. "I've been fighting since the farm, I can't stop now." She added with a more serious expression.
"How about tomorrow?" Rick asked.
"You been thinking about what that looks like?"
"I have." He smiled widely. The thought of the future being free from Negan and the saviors was soon going to be reality.
"Well, just one more fight. And I'm gonna be there, at least for the first part."
They fell silent for a moment as they basked in what could be their last moments. "Is everybody ready?" Adrianna asked. Maggie and Rick nodded back and they turned to the people. "Let's get this started."
