Draco received four peaceful days of silence. The boys attended meals but would lock themselves in their rooms otherwise. He and Harry tried to find out what happened; as it turns out, there was no weak link when it came to the four teenagers dwelling upstairs. A bunch of stubborn prats, the lot of them.
Pansy kept her promise to take Kenneth shopping. She offered to take the three others with, and although they could see the want in Kyle's eyes, he graciously declined. Ian and Toby looked terrified at the thought of being alone with Pansy and having to shop for clothes with her. She still came back with at least five different outfits for each of them; including a nice set of dress robes for the upcoming gala. She estimated their sizes based on Kenneth. The poor boy looked exhausted afterwards.
It wasn't until Draco demanded that they finish the work they were assigned over spring break that the silence between the four ended. Not that they were speaking, but their quarrel could not withstand the obvious benefit of working together to complete their homework faster. That was the first chink in their chain.
Draco wanted; no, he needed this to end. The tension was upsetting Wispy, yes, it upset his elf not him. He couldn't care less, yes, this made him happy because of course it made him happy. It was quiet, he could revise for his exams, it was perfect. Except for Wispy, yes, she was unhappy with the situation. Wispy wanted a happy house, like the first two disastrous days in London. Potter too, it was upsetting Potter and Wispy. Not him, no, nope, he couldn't care less. They were quiet and reserved, exactly how children were supposed to act. Proper well-bred children were seen but not heard, except these children were not being seen. They were locked away, alone, in the bedrooms brooding.
Yes, they were brooding. Nothing good comes from brooding. He should know, he spent most of his time brooding over the last, oh, what was it? Eight years? Yes, that seems correct.
"This brooding must end, Potter." Draco slams his book closed, "It's too quiet, they're being rude. Yes, that's it. They're being rude. Locked away in their rooms, brooding like, oh I don't know, pampered house cats. Yes, Potter, they're acting like pampered house cats. Not the useful kind that catch rodents, but the ones that need to be brushed and fawned over. All of them, they wouldn't even watch a film with us. It's been only us for the last four days. Oh sure, they come and eat our food. Which is fine, of course it's fine, they need to eat, but what about all those snacks, Potter? We have all these snacks and no one to eat them. You were going to make nachos, Potter, and yet we have no nachos because you said we were saving them for everyone. For something fun. Are you having fun, Potter? I'm not having fun which means I haven't had a chance to try these nachos you speak of. That's rude, don't you think? Denying your host nachos because you feel your time is better spent brooding? Alone, brooding alone, like pampered house cats. Well, Potter, this ends now."
Harry waits for Draco to do something, after a full minute he goes back to drawing a tattoo design for his portfolio. He, Dean, and Terence have an interview with a tattoo parlor this week, and they want to see their artwork.
"Well?" Draco tosses his book on the table.
"Ah..."
"End it, Potter." He sits back crossing his arms, "Weren't you listening? Was I speaking to myself? Honestly, Potter."
"You want me to do something?"
"They're being rude."
"Yes, like cats. I was listening."
"Well then, Potter, fix it."
"You fix it, Malfoy. I don't know how to fix this. We don't even know what happened. Kyle is fighting with Ian; Ian is fighting with Toby who's fighting right back with Ian, and Kenneth looks lost. I can't tell if Toby is fighting with Kyle or Kenneth or if it's just a trickle-down effect."
