Veronica's POV:
On my way home, I've had time to process what just happened, specifically the part where Harley made a deal with Lena and the possible consequences that are inevitably soon to come. Once home, I start pacing around the house, randomly doing tasks and chores like making coffee and tidying up here and there.
Riddler: "Hey, how was the--"
Riddler walks into the kitchen as I finish my coffee, not pausing for sips or breathing until I'm done.
Riddler: "Service?"
Me: "It went fine. Ivy accidentally created a female, baby version of Frank called 'Frankette', we teleported onto Brainiac's ship, shrunk Brainiac, and Ivy returned to fight the automatons in Metropolis. At the same time, Harley & I tried to stop them from boarding the ship. We tried, and failed, so Harley made a deal with Lena, promised to give her anything in return, Lena saved the city, but now she has control of the ship, the city, maybe even the world, and now she can do and take whatever she wants any second now. I don't know if she's going after her, Ivy, or all of us, but either way, I can't decide whether to be mad at Harley for risking our family's safety and who-knows-what-else or scared for what those risks involve."
Riddler walks toward me and places his hands on my shoulder.
Riddler: "Hey, hey, hey. Everything's gonna be fine."
Me: "We don't know that."
Riddler: "I do. You've been through so much in the last 5+ years, and you're still standing, as strong, smart, and brave as you were the day I met you. Not only have you survived all that chaos and destruction, you're still fighting through it--Granted, these days, it's been a bit less life-or-death till now--while raising a family and putting up with me in a way that's going to inspire our kids to be just as amazing as their mother."
Me: *sighs* "Yeah, well, their dad's not half-bad either, especially at pep talks."
Riddler: *chuckles* "You flatter me, mon cher."
Riddler pulls me into a gentle, loving kiss, pulling away as we lean our foreheads against one another.
Riddler: "Whatever happens, I know we can and will do everything to protect what we've fought to keep, our family, our kids, and keep them safe. On that, you have my word.-*kisses her forehead*-We'll be fine, love."
Me: "Hmm, let's hope so."
After a while, we separate so Riddler can pour himself a cup of coffee and I can check on the kids. I enter the nursery as I hear Morgan quietly whining, ready to wake up, so I gently pick her up and sit in the rocking chair to soothe her, either back to sleep or help make her waking up easier so the others can stay asleep.
Me: "Shh, you're ok, sweetheart. Just ease yourself into it."
Morgan's whine transitions into murmurs as she slowly opens her eyes.
Me: "That's my girl. Hope you had pleasant dreams. Goodness knows Mommy's gonna need some of those tonight. It's been a crazy day. Then again, when is anything in our life not crazy?-*Morgan hums*-I know, right?-*chuckles & sighs*-Honestly, you three and your father are all that's keeping me sane right now. 'Cause Auntie Harley made a little mess, but hopefully, it'll sort itself out.-*deep breath*-As long as I have you, I'll be fine."
Then, my phone rings in my pocket. Luckily, I have it on vibrate, so Morgan stays calm and the others stay asleep while I answer the call.
Me: *over the phone* "Hey, Harls, what's up?"
