Chapter 29 - Home
[ Glenn's POV ]"Now, you said you found Tyrese's group here?" I ask Carl, kneeling on the floor and marking the spot with my finger.
A new group of survivors somehow managed to stumble upon the prison while Kadyn and I were captured.
"Yeah," Carl nods.
"We secured this." I state, looking around at everyone in the room.
"He thought he came through here." Carl says, standing up.
I stand up as well. "Okay, that means there's another breach. The whole front of the prison is unsecured. If walkers just strolled in, then it's going to be cake for a group of armed men."
"Why are we even so sure he's going to attack?" Maggie asks me, her eyebrows raised. "Maybe you scared him off."
"He had fishtanks full of heads. Walkers and humans. Trophies," Michonne says in a low voice. "He's coming."
"We should hit him now." I say.
"What?"
"He won't be expecting it. We'll sneak back in and put a bullet in his head." I state.
"We're not assassins." Maggie disagrees, crossing her arms.
"You know where his apartment is. You and I could end this tonight." I try to bribe Michonne. She looks away. "I'll do it myself," I say.
"He didn't know you were coming last time and look what happened. You were almost killed. Daryl was captured. You and Kadyn were almost executed." Hershel says.
"You can't stop me," I say, clenching my fists.
"Rick would never allow this." Hershel shakes his head at me.
"You really think he's in any position to make that choice?" I ask.
"Think this through clearly. T-Dog lost his life here. Lori, too. The men that were here. It isn't worth any more killing. What are we waiting for? If he's really on his way, we should be out of here by now." Hershel says.
"And go where?" I ask, shaking my head.
"We lived on the road all winter." Hershel suggests.
"Back when you had two legs and we didn't have a baby crying for walkers every four hours." I snap.
"We can't stay here!" Hershel says.
"We can't run." I reply firmly.
Kadyn gets up from the table she was sitting at by Maggie and leaves, heading to the cell block. I bite my lip.
"Alright, we'll stay put. We're gonna defend this place. We're making a stand. Carl, you and I will go down in the tombs. We need to figure out where the breach is."
"You got it." Carl nods.
"Look like you'll need some help." Axel offers.
"No, in case anything happens, I need you out here." I tell Axel, and he nods.
"Who's on guard?" I ask, but no one replies. "Damnit," I mumble, walking out of the room.
//
"The tombs outside the boiler room are overrun." I announce to the group when we meet up again. Everyone except for Kadyn is in here.
"We cleared that out," Maggie says.
"It's filled again." Carl shakes his head.
"We're wasting time. The Governor is supposedly on his way and we're stuck here with walkers. Trapped between a rock and a hard place." Hershel says.
