Chapter 9
Save The Last OneKadyn's POV ~~~ Flashback ~~~
It was T-Dog.
I nearly drop my duffel bag in surprise. I rush torwards T-Dog with open arms, my lips turning up in a smile.
"T-Dog!" I cry, throwing my arms around his neck and hugging him.
I feel Joey and Bella squeeze themselves into the hug too. I giggle in excitement.
"Oh, my God! I can't believe it!" I say.
"Have you guys been doing okay, so far?" T-Dog asks, and we all start to tell him how we had figured out about the outbreak, and what all had happened.
"We've got a camp . . a few miles up the road. You guys can either join or stay by yourselves, but it would make me feel better to know that you were safe with us." T-Dog says, making me smile. It made me happy to know that he cared about us. It felt good to know that someone actually cared about me.
He did drive us to church every Wednesday and Sunday, and on other special church events.
"Who's we? You're in a group?" Bella asks, and T-Dog nods.
"They're nice. Most of 'em. You'd be safe there." He says, giving her a smile.
I nod. "I'm in."
"Me too." Joey and Bella say at the same time.
"Are you alone here?" Joey asks.
"Nah. Glenn is still in the house looking around for more supplies." T-Dog answers.
"Who's Glenn?" I ask curiously.
"Kid about your age. Maybe a year or two older. You'll like him." T-Dog shrugs.
"Here, let's put your stuff in the van." T-Dog suggests, taking our bags and situating them in the back seats.
At this time, I hear a door open and close, and turn around. A young guy, who did look around my age, walks out of the house. He stops when he sees us. He had thick, dark hair, which was mostly covered by a red and orange hat, and looked.. Korean? The boy, I'm assuming "Glenn", was wearing jeans, converse, and a open flannel shirt, with an undershirt. Our eyes lock on one another, until he breaks contact and looks around for T-Dog.
"Er, T-Dog?" He calls out for T-Dog a little nervously, and T-Dog backs out of the van enough to be in Glenn's view.
"Oh, Glenn, this is Bella, Joey, and Kadyn. They are going to join our group. I knew them before the outbreak." T-Dog explains.
"Okay," Glenn shrugs his shoulders and continues to walk towards us, a bag of supplies in his hands.
"I'm Kadyn." I smile at him.
He kinda blushes, just the slightest bit I noticed, and smiles. "Glenn." He says somewhat nervously. I simply found it cute.
We pile into the church van, T-Dog at the wheel, and Glenn in the front passenger seat. Then, we drive away to the camp.
Flashback over
Present TimeGlenn, T-Dog, and I have just now gotten out of all of the wreckage on the road. The highway is empty; not a car in sight.
"Do you know where this farm is?" Glenn asks me, leaning back into his seat.
I open up the giant road map and scan it with my eyes. "Nope." I reply.
Glenn smiles a little bit, shaking his head at me. I blush and continue to look at the map.
"I think it's up this way." I say, tracing the yellow line indicating the road on the map with my finger.
