Chapter 3:
Tell It To The Frogs

I start walking back up to the camp at a fast pace. I stop in my tracks when I see another vehicle pass on the road; this time a van. My eyes widen and I start to jog, climbing up the hill.

I hear Dale and Shane yelling over the loud noise.

"Turn that damn thing off!"

"I don't know how!" I can barely hear the voice over the blaring ring of the alarm.

"Andrea! Is she alright?" Amy yells over the alarm. Amy keeps asking if her sister is okay and alive, but can't be heard over the car alarm.

Shane tells Glenn to pop the hood, so he gets back into the car and presses the button to open the hood.

"Andrea! Is she okay?" Amy asks, still talking.

Glenn gets out of the car. "Yeah, yeah!"

"She's okay! She's okay!"

"Is she coming back?"

"Yes!"

Shane pulls some wires from the open hood, and the alarm stops.

"Why isn't she with you? Where is she? She's okay?"

"Yes! Yeah. Fine. Everybody is. Well, Merle not so much." Glenn says.

"Are you crazy, driving this wailing bastard up here? Are you trying to draw every walker for miles?"Shane yells at him.

"I think we're okay." Dale says, looking around.

"You call being stupid okay?" Shane argues, and I glare at him from behind the crowd.

"Well, the alarm was echoing all over these hills. Hard to pinpoint the source." Dale says reasonably.
Shane glares at Dale.

"I'm not arguing. I'm just saying." Then he turns to Glenn. "It wouldn't hurt you to think things through a little more carefully next time, would it?"

"Sorry. Got a cool car." Glenn shrugs his shoulders. I let out a breath of relief that I didn't know I was holding. He's okay.

Everyone turns to see a van pull up. Glenn smiles.

Amy runs to Andrea and they hug, crying. Everyone runs to their families, and I find myself running to Glenn, who is standing amidst everyone, looking around the camp.

"Oh, thank God!" I say, sprinting past Joey's open arms to Glenn.

I wrap my arms around his neck and hug him tightly. Surprised by my hug, Glenn hugs back just as tightly.

"I was so worried about you." I say quietly to only he can hear me.

"You don't have to worry anymore." He whispers back.

I pull back from his arms and smile.

"How did y'all get out of there?" Shane asks.

"New guy-he got us out." Glenn says, his arm unnoticeably around my waist.

"New guy?" Shane asks, confused.

"Yeah, crazy vato just got into town. Hey, helicopter boy! Come say hello." Morales calls to someone in the van.

The truck door opens and closes, and a man steps out. He walks forward slowly, a sad unsure look on his face.

"The guy's a cop like you." Morales says to Shane.

Shane sees the man, a look of disbelief on his face. He backs up a step, obviously no sign of happiness that the man is here.

"Dad! Dad!" I hear Carl scream from behind me. I turn around to see Carl running forward to the man in the sheriff uniform.
