ADRIAN
Watching her leave and close the door, I couldn't even hold Rafe back. He came closer to the surface and watched her retreat into her bedroom.
While I enjoyed kissing her, her body seemed to be frozen in place. Pulling back and staring at me was the first time I had ever felt connected with her.
Tingles exploded when my lips went on hers and Rafe, who had broken free from the block a while ago, howled in delight. He wanted to pin her up against the wall and ravish her body.
Taking back control of him, I stared at the door. Kenna's face was blank the entire time she stared at me. It was hard to pinpoint what she was thinking.
"I think we broke her," Rafe said, sounding happy with himself.
I said nothing, but that didn't stop him from carrying on. "I am happy. We got to kiss our mate, finally. You should be—"
"I'm happy," I blurted, cutting him off while I am keeping my eyes on the door Kenna had closed. I wanted nothing more than to check on her. Make sure she wasn't cold. To make sure she was okay with the kiss.
"We can warm her up," Rafe murmured, sounding horny again.
Damn fucking lycan.
"Stupid human," he growled. "She's our mate. We need—"
"I know she's our mate," I gritted, getting annoyed. "She's also human, Rafe. You need to keep that in mind."
Rafe grunted, which made me look back at him. The damn lycan rolled his eyes at me. "She doesn't have a clue what we are. And that also states she has no clue she belongs to us. Not to mention that other wolf from the other pack who is claiming her. We don't know what his deal is yet, or if she knows him either."
I stared at him, but he said nothing, while letting my words sink in.
The storm was now coming in. The rain was thrashing against the window. Knowing this place may need more work once the storm clears, I had to make sure this place doesn't get damaged.
Taking my eyes off Rafe, I look towards Kenna's door again and know that there was no point in checking in on Kenna. She needed time, but how was I supposed to stay away now after I had a taste of her damn lips.
Shaking my thoughts away, I looked around the lounge and decided to blow out the candles. There was no point in having them.
"Maybe we can be romantic with mate, we could use them again," Rafe muttered, sounding like he was trying.
There was no point in responding to what he said since I knew there may be a possibility in the future of that happening, but that would all depend on Kenna.
After blowing out all the candles, I decided to sit on the couch and leaned back to rest my head on the cushion. My eyes went to the ceiling.
There was so much going on in my mind that time went quick till a mind link came through from Alpha Maddox. "How is it going with your mate?" His voice echoed around my head.
"Well, interesting might about covers it," I muttered with a sigh. I explained to Alpha Maddox want had happened about the evening, how scared Kenna was with the storm and ending it with the kiss, even how she acted.
"Well, that is a new one," he said, sounding amused. "A woman frozen while a man kisses her. Where is she now?"
"Her room," I said, turning to look at the door again. I had no idea what the time was, but it must have been getting later now.
"Well, as her mate, you will need to check on her," he said, which was followed by a sigh. "Maybe you should just be friends with her for now till we learn more about the other wolf in question."
"Maddox, she's mate. There is no doubt about it. I felt the tingles," I said, sounding more forced. "There is no doubt of that. That wolf is lying to his alpha."
"I believe you."
There was a moment of silence before he came back. "I want to know why he is lying to his alpha about her being his mate?"
"I would like to know that too," I gritted, which made my anger come to the surface.
There was another pause before he spoke. "We can't do much about it. The forecast has stated that the storm is in for at least another day. That's not including what we need to when the storm has cleared."
I said nothing, but alpha Maddox carried on. "Once the storm had cleared, I will arrange for pack members to sort stuff out. For now, just take it easy with Kenna. If anything happens, that's great but make sure she doesn't know about who we are till this storm passes."
"That won't be a problem," I said with a sigh.
Alpha Maddox and I said our goodbyes and then closed the link.
My eyes darted to the door again.
There was a need to check on Kenna, but I needed to wait till I knew she was asleep.
Taking a breath, I stood up and got off the couch. Sneaking quietly, I headed toward the door. Placing my hand on the door handle, I turned it slightly till the door opened and appeared inside.
Warmth hit my face, which made me happy to know that Kenna was nice and warm. Even though there was a part of me that wanted to be her heat source.
My eyes stayed on her for a moment till I felt Rafe come closer and start to pant.
What the hell was his problem now?
"Take a sniff," he murmured.
Sticking my nose up, I sniffed. The scent was pure sweetness, which didn't help with my cock. It twitched in my damn pants.
"Mate is dreaming," Rafe rasped, coming closer to look through my eyes. "It seems to be a good one."
A moan slipped past her lips, which went straight to my cock.
What the hell was my mate dreaming about?
Her scent filled the air which was mixed with her arousal.
Fuck. This was pure torture. I needed to get out and now.
Turning around, I closed my eyes and looked back at Rafe, who seemed to be on edge just like me. "Need to be in there with mate. We can help her fix her need."
There was a slight pant coming from him, which only made me open my eyes and walk away from the door. I needed to stay in the lounge, not be anywhere near her.
Sleep wasn't going to be an option now. Knowing my luck, Rafe would take over my damn body and jump into bed with her.
"No, I won't!" He shouted. "I'm not that crazed to do that."
Stepping into the kitchen, I decided to make myself useful and sort out the dishes. I needed to keep busy, which is what I did.
After a while, the kitchen was done. All dishes were washed and put away.
Looking at the food that she put away, an idea formed about what I could do for her. I could make her food, breakfast to begin with and then go from there.
"That sounds like a plan," Rafe yawned. "Maybe we could eat her sweetness while we are at."
Fuck!
"You had to put that into my head," I gritted, which made him send an image of Kenna on table with her legs spread wide and my head buried between them.
Rafe's eyes went darker, thinking the exact same thing and what image it would look like.
Fuck, I better start doing something else or I will be pitching a tent outside in this fucking storm to keep myself away from her.
