ADRIAN
After food, Lewis and I went to the safe house which looked nothing liked what none of us would have chosen. It was basic. Nothing personal was in there, just bland colours and furniture.
Part of me wondered what Kenna really thought about it, did she really think it was Lewis and Catrina's place?
Rafe, who had been quiet the entire time we were having food, came closer and taking in what was going on. Eyes were on Lewis and me the entire time.
Pausing at the entrance, I look over my shoulder and see the blinds opposite us move. I knew there would be some pack members around to keep an eye on us and most of them were guards, so we knew we were safe.
What got me was acting like nosy people.
Rafe let out a grunt, agreeing. "We should go in and see mate."
That I could get behind.
Not wanting to look around anymore, I turn and gave my brother a nod before walking in. I knew he would do a perimeter sweep before coming back in and locking up after us.
No one was coming through that door with a werewolf and two Lycans, protecting our own and Kenna was. Well, she was mine and what is mine, my brother believes is family. He has been protecting her since he found out she is my mate and even when she wouldn't give me a chance.
Stepping in and all I can smell is coffee, which makes me want one. Glancing toward the couch but there were no Kenna or Catrina. Where the hell were they?
Cluttering in the kitchen pulled me out of my thoughts, which made me walk over and see Catrina making some coffee. She looked over her shoulder and smiled. "Hey, you're back?"
I gave her a nod, but couldn't help looking around to find Kenna, but there was no sign.
"She fell asleep while watching a film," Catrina said, which made me dart my eyes to her.
She was now leaning on the counter, with a mug in her hands. "You want one?"
"Please." Was all I could say, before leaning back against the fridge.
Catrina poured me some coffee, which was black and came over with it to hand it to me. Once it was in my hand, I took a sip. "Someone will need to get some food for us to eat."
I said nothing. Swallowing the coffee that was in my mouth, Lewis walked in which made Catrina smile. "Here." While handing him a mug.
Lewis grinned and stood beside her, leaning back and placing his arm around her. His eyes came to me. "Have you told her what Alpha Maddox had said?"
I frowned and even shook my head. I would have thought he would have told his own mate about this but whatever.
Without even thinking, I tell Catrina everything. What it was like in the cells with that idiot and what Maddox had said. Once I was done, she looked ready to explode.
"I can't believe that," she muttered, anger rolling off her which made me wonder what pissed her off more. Her eyes locked on mine. "We have to make sure that asshole goes nowhere near her."
"He won't be," I stated, Rafe coming close and puffing out his chest. Wanting nothing more than to protect our mate from that dick. "We will never leave her alone. She has someone with her all the time."
There were a few moments of silence before Lewis looked at me. "How do you think things are going to go when alpha James and the rest are confronted tomorrow?"
That was a good question, part of me wondered that too.
"I don't know," I said, not wanting to sound overly confident, especially when we don't know anything. "I am more concerned with what Alpha James would be like. Apparently, she doesn't know who we are, which makes me wonder what her role was within the pack. If a human was around werewolves, surely, she would have known who they were by running around or even being close like here."
Neither of them spoke, but Catrina looked on thoughtfully before she spoke. "By the sound of what I heard from Kenna, she was never near the pack grounds," she said, making me pull my brows together while she continued. "I mean, Ad, you would be right. She would have notice but hearing everything. She was never close to see and with what she told me about that man, Dylan, he was only after what she created behind closed doors, not for her pants."
A low growl rumbled out of me, making her lips twitch at my reaction. I fucking hate the way she said that but also is felt better than believing the word of that asshole.
No one spoke till Catrina spoke again. "She asked about you, wondered where you got off to." A smile came on my face and theirs. I like knowing that part more.
A chuckle in my head came. "She will accept us as her mate. We just have to wait till she knows who we are first to her and what we are, then we can make her ours. Put pups in her and—"
"Rafe, slow down. One thing at a time," I murmured, keeping my eyes on Catrina who could tell Rafe is talking to me since she moves her head to the side, probably guessing what he had said to me.
And on that note, I want everything he had said—especially the pups. Her round with a mini her and me running around.
"Maybe eight pups," Rafe said, sounding proud.
"Maybe ten," I countered with him, before getting back to my brother who seemed to be grinning. Knowing him, his Lycan worked out where Rafe's head had gone.
Pressing his lips together, which meant he was holding in a laugh. Catrina spoke again but it was more a sigh. "Well, let's hit the hay as they say and get some shut eye." She moves away, while placing her hand in Lewis to take him with her. But she stops and a slow grin spread across her face. "Oh, and Ad, as for as Kenna, she believes you are in the room opposite her."
Frowning at them, which only makes them laugh till they walk away from me.
Yeah, that's not happening. I am staying in her room.
Drinking the rest of my coffee, which come to think about it wasn't the best idea to have since now I will be up all night.
Then something came to mind, I wonder if Kenna would stay awake with me.
An image came to mind, which made Rafe let out a howl in delight of what I wanted to do. "Please do to. I'll be a good boy and watch."
Trying not to laugh of how whining and pathetic he sounds, I said nothing. Even though I know I would do the same if Kenna would let me. Just her playing, me watching.
Fuck, I need to stop.
Rafe whined in my head, loving and hating that thought all at the same time.
Not wanting to hang around any longer, I move from the fridge and head over to the sink where I placed my mug in with the others and then headed upstairs to the bedroom.
Knowing Catrina and Lewis wouldn't be able to keep their hands off each other, I am thankful that all rooms in all homes in this pack are soundproof. Could you imagine the noises? Though come to think about it, I would love for people to know I have Kenna with her screams and fuck can she scream.
Rafe laughed, while I walked past what I believe was Cat and Lewis's room, I head closer the hall to the one I know Kenna was in since her scent hit me as soon as I got up the stairs and only got stronger as I move closer to the room she was in.
Letting her scent calm me, I push open the door to head into bed with my mate.
