KENNA
I stood frozen.
Adrian was kissing me.
Damn it, he was kissing me, and I like it. Well, it's more like loving it.
Pulling away, I keep my eyes on him. He had his eyes shut while I had mine open. The man was desirable as hell, and he kissed.
Adrian opened his eyes and ran his tongue over his bottom lip while his eyes searched my face.
What the hell?
"Well, that made you stop panicking?" he said, sounding like he was trying to convince me of something.
"You just kissed me?" I murmured while he looked at me like I had two freaking heads.
"Yeah," he said, cocking his head to the side. "I thought kissing you would make you stop freaking out about the storm." There was something in the way he said it that made me realize I didn't believe what he had told me.
Adrian stared at me as a smile appeared on his lips. "Kenna, you—"
A loud bang came from outside, which cut him off. The storm reminded us it was outside.
Adrian looked over his shoulder toward the window while I stepped back from him. I needed breathing room, and his being that close to me did not help me one bit.
I moved again when a streak of lightning lit up the room, making me turn on my heel and walk toward the bedroom.
There was no way I was staying in the same room as him. I can't trust myself, especially after that kiss.
My damn panties were wet, and my core had a mind of its own.
I walked quickly to the bedroom. Turning around to see Adrian staring at me, his eyes all dark and hooded. Despite his stern expression, I slammed the door without caring.
A shiver rippled through me while I turned around and headed to the bed.
There was no way I was going to be anywhere near him.
I quickly got myself ready for bed and got in.
My room was cold and dark, but it was warm under the blanket. I flicked on the electric blanket and snuggled under the covers. Laying on my back, my eyes went to the ceiling while my mind raced over everything.
The kiss was the primary feature of my freak-out. Why would he kiss me? When his lips touched mine, tingles erupted, making me freeze on him. I have felt nothing like that before, not with old boyfriends.
Being frozen in place while a man like Adrian kisses you like that was never my intention, but I couldn't think straight. It was as if all common sense vanished, leaving me standing there like a lemon.
Everything about the man screamed trouble, and I was hellbent on staying away. I can't cope with heartache, not again, not after what happened with the other one.
Adrian seemed different from the other one, but a part of me wanted to keep him at arm's distance. I also wanted him around since I felt safe.
The man was tall, and his arms were the things I wanted around me—fuck, I needed to stop thinking about the guy, or this will not end well for me.
Another bang came through again, and not long after, another flash of lightning too.
This storm was awful.
Moving the covers up to my shoulders, I turned over to my side and let the warmth wash over me. After a few minutes, I felt my eyes drift off, and not long after, I fell into darkness.
**
The warmth of the electric bed soothed me, but my dream didn't.
The dream was something like a dream of dreams of a certain man who should never invade mine. Adrian was in them, calling to me and naked.
Why did he have to be naked?
The way the man looked at me sent me into a frenzy. I craved his touch, and the only thing that man was doing was waiting for me to finish cooking him food. It's like he asked me to make him food after he did a job for me, and that's what I was doing.
The only problem factor that set in was the man standing behind me after a while, gripping my waist and moving to the counter like I was nothing. Caging me in with those enormous arms, he leaned forward and told me he wanted dessert. You would think my apple pie would be the thing he wanted, but no. he wanted me to spread my legs and let him feast on my pussy like it was everything he desired.
Everything about him screamed he wanted me until I looked into his eyes—black. All black. They weren't his eyes. It looked like someone had taken over him.
The moment I recognized his eyes, I screamed, but he gripped me tight. His lips were on mine like they did earlier that night. His lips moved from mine and moved down my neck while sucking and biting my flesh. A moan slipped past my lips while my hands gripped his shoulders.
Wetness pooled between my legs, but there was no way I could close my legs, not with Adrian in between them.
Adrian stopped the assault on my neck and sniffed my skin till I felt his tongue come out and lick over a sensitive part of my neck. It had more effect than he had already done to me. He moved closer, gripping tighter to me.
He moved slightly until he was close to my ear. His hot breath fanned over my skin. "You smell fucking delicious, my mate," he murmured raspy. "Mine!"
A low primal growl erupted through me, which made me open my eyes and move up quickly, panting hard at what had happened.
There was an ache between my legs, all because of a dream.
Fuck.
What the hell was that?
Looking around the room till it landed on the door, where a shadow hovered. I knew who it was—Adrian. He had his back to me.
Not wanting him to know I was awake, I lowered and quickly turned over when I heard him. I didn't want to risk him looking in on me or even finding out I was awake, not after the dream I had just had.
My heart raced, but I tried to keep my breathing steady. I listened to what I could, but I could only hear the rain from outside. It seemed to be heavy against the window.
Keeping my eyes ahead, I listened, but nothing happened. He must have walked away.
Did he look in on me?
Why?
Questions invaded my mind, which I let since I knew sleep was far from my mind. There was no way I was letting him see me all flustered, especially when it was all about him.
There was no need for the embarrassment, but how the hell was I going to look him in the eye in the morning?
