KENNA

For the next hour, I packed quietly while Catrina helped. I grabbed some clothes that I may need and then the bathroom essentials.

My mind was racing over the whole thing that was said moments ago.

Dylan and James were here, where I live. Part of me had an inkling that they would come looking but I didn't think they would take the opportunity when my boss would ring them.

James never once made me feel out of place, unlike some of the others that worked and lived around the office. They would look at me like I was something they walked through, while others didn't even bother to notice I exist. But James was a nice man, well I thought he was.

Ever since that night I learned what Dylan did, I had a suspicion that James knew something but that part I didn't exactly know if it was true.

Zipping up my bag, I glanced at Catrina who was now watching me. She gave me a smile, then motioned to the door. "I have the truck. We can put everything in and head back to mine."

I said nothing, while I followed her out of my bedroom and straight through the house. Only stopping to switch off lights and things that didn't need to be on. Once I got to the front door, I stopped and then took in my home that I made here. I didn't want to leave but the mere thought of wolves coming closer here, that part scared me but there was another fear that was in place to, something I could never tell Catrina or Adrian about—Dylan. As much as he may come across as a nice guy, there was always something sinister lurking behind those eyes of his and they were always aimed at me.

Shaking the notion and feelings away, I knew I would be safe. Turning back around, I headed out the front door and locked it while looking over my shoulder at the truck where Catrina was placing all my bags on the back seat.

Pocketing the key to my home, I headed down the steps and straight to the truck. I got in and settled back, when Catrina followed suit.

Leaning back in the seat, I kept my eyes straight ahead till Catrina pulled out from my home and headed down the drive and straight to her home.

My eyes stayed locked onto the window, while neither of us spoke. It was silent, which was what I needed.

The drive took about ten minutes to get to her street, but it felt longer with the silence. As she turned onto her street, I couldn't help but take in the perfect houses they had. They all looked picture perfect like you would see in home magazines.

Catrina pulled into the driveaway of the third house on the left, where Lewis was waiting on the porch with a smile, tugging his lips.

Taking a breath, I somehow felt like I was trespassing.

My eyes darted around the street, taking in the houses but something felt off.

"Let's get you set up," Catrina said, opening her door which was the first five words she had said to me in ten minutes or more.

Keeping my mouth closed, I got out and closed the door to the truck while Lewis came toward me. "Hey Kenna," he said with a smile. "It will be fun having you stay for a little while."

I stared at him for a moment till I nodded. "Only till the wolves have gone, right?"

There seemed to be some sort of confusion on his face, but he soon recovered with a nod. "Right," he said, motioning to Catrina and his home. "Head inside. Cat will show you to your room, you can unpack and then we can have some food."

Liking the idea of food since I knew I was supposed to wait for Adrian, but I was starved.

Fuck, when was he going to be back from work? I wanted to see him.
