Chapter 40

ADRIAN

For the next two days, all Kenna and I have been doing is fucking. Much to Rafe and my enjoyment.

The damn Lycan nearly came out a few times to join. Reining him back in was hard, especially when Kenna's moans echoed around the room. He kept chanting to mark her, but we both know that couldn't happen, not until she knows what we are.

"Mate needs to know now," Rafe muttered, not sounding happy which I don't blame him since we have been stuck in work for the last three hours after being called out to deal with a matter while we were in bed with our mate.

"Hate leaving her," he growled, pacing in my head.

The job was only supposed to take an hour, but the guy brought the wrong material which meant I had to get it. I love working for the pack but there is only one of me, I should really train someone to do this with me. I need extra hands.

I could hear Rafe mumble something, but I couldn't hear what it was.

Since that night going back to hers, we haven't left her side or house. We continued our dates but at least they ended with us naked and in part of her house naked. Having her against the wall while we were mucking about seemed to get us all hot and heavy.

I couldn't get enough of Kenna and clearly the mate bond between us was working. The only downside to all this, we needed to tell her what we were and it would have to happen this evening since tomorrow the alpha and the pack are coming here.

Kenna still doesn't know yet about her past coming and I haven't got the heart to tell her. It is taking everything in me to not blow and tell her, especially when she seems happy to be with us.

Telling her, her ex is going to come here and want to claim her.

That thought makes me want to scream and kill someone, more liking him. Wondering how this is going to plan out is one thing, but something still doesn't make sense as to why he is adamant that she is his to claim.

Alpha Maddox has increased more patrols around the pack since there have been more sightings of rogues, especially earlier. Even though I had to leave for work, I also had to look around the borderlines to check for sightings, but nothing came of it.

Alpha Maddox has placed more of us around and to search but we all have a funny feeling that this is not over.

Taking a moment, I let out a sigh before placing the last of tools into my truck and got paid for the job I was made to come to.

All I wanted to do was head to Kenna's and have my head between her thighs, eating her deliciousness.

Rafe howled in agreement.

Not wanting to hang around anymore, I jumped into the truck and drove away.

We were heading back to Kenna's when a mind link came through from Lewis. "Need you at the pack house now, brother," he growled, his anger slipping through. "They arrived early."

Those words made me skid to stop in the truck and growl. "What the hell? They are supposed to be here tomorrow. How are they—"

"I have no idea," he growled while panting. I knew that sound. He's trying to calm his Lycan down.

"What did they say?" I asked but Lewis was losing it.

"Ad, hurry..." he said and then closed the link.

His anger came out which for my brother was strange since he was a calm person on times, even when we get attacked.

Not wanting to wait any longer and knowing exactly how serious this is, I started the car back up and headed toward the pack house to deal with whatever was happening.

Rafe was close by and ready, wanting nothing more than to kill whatever had gotten to our brother.

Coming closer, that is when I saw what had my brother angry. Before me were five men, holding back one of the pack members that came with the alpha while Alpha Maddox and Lewis were glaring back.

Skidding to a stop, I got out of the car when I heard shouting but the mans words had me pissed. "You can't stop me from seeing her," he yelled, pushing through the men who were trying to hold him back. "She's my mate. I need to be with her."

Not liking his words, I let out a growl and Rafe came closer, pissed. "She's mine!" we shouted, making every man stop what they were doing and look at us.

The man was the same height as us and even top rank, but there was something in his eyes that made me realise this wasn't about Kenna, this was about something else. I could feel it.

"What the hell did you just say?" the man said, which made me growl like he didn't hear me.

Taking a step toward him till Lewis came over to me and stepping in front of me. Blocking my way even though he was fighting for control too.

"Are you deaf?" I growled. "She's mine. I'm her mate, not you."

"Alpha Maddox what is the meaning of this?" Alpha James muttered, authority etched in his voice. I looked to the man, who was now looking toward my alpha like he had deceived him. "You never mentioned that someone else had claimed her as his mate. And a Lycan nor less."

I let out a growl, not liking his tone and what the hell did he mean by that?

"That man is a dead man," Rafe growled, wanting out to take control and fight for our mate.

Growling erupted throughout the pack grounds which made every man tense when we all spotted pack members standing around and clearly heard the alpha disrespect one of us, mainly me.

Alpha Maddox looked around and growled. "Don't you ever disrespect my pack member," he gritted, his eyes solely on Alpha James. "And this is how you show respect when I opened my pack up to you."

More growls erupted, which was when Alpha James looked around and soon realised, he fucked up and looked at Alpha Maddox for a moment before he spoke clearly. "I apologise for me and my pack members behaviour, but you never mentioned—"

"Not here," Alpha Maddox growled, glaring at the alpha. "You weren't supposed to be here today. Tomorrow. I believe we need to talk in my office, all of us and alpha James, you better control that mutt of yours or I will place him in a cell."

Growls erupted from everywhere.

Anger rippled through the entire air, which made me thankful that Kenna wasn't here. This would be hard to explain now and more importantly, I needed her to know we were it for her, not this mutt.
