ADRIAN

We all went into the office, angry.

The other guy had moved further in, while his alpha stood between us.

As soon as the door closed behind us, all hell broke loose.

"Who the fuck do you think you are to claim what is mine?" the man growled, who was claiming Kenna. His eyes going to me, instantly.

I let out a growl, while Rafe came closer, not liking his tone.

"Kenna is our mate!" That was all that came out of my mouth. The other guy growled, not liking what I said, but went to grab me but was pushed back by his other pack members.

A loud growl erupted throughout the office—Alpha Maddox. "Enough!" He was pissed and rightly so, his eyes glazed in anger while looking at the other wolf. "I told you out there not to disrespect my man and you still do it. One more word out of you and I will be banishing you from this pack entirely."

"That sounds like a plan," Rafe mumbled, wanting nothing more to help get this asshole out.

I kept my mouth shut and my eyes locked on my moving target, the asshole who was claiming my mate.

The office fell silent but thick with tension.

Lewis was standing close to me, while glaring at the men from the other pack.

Alpha Maddox let out a breath and was about to talk, when Alpha James beat him to it. "I want to apologise for Dylan, my beta's outburst," he said, glaring at the man in question and then looked back at Alpha Maddox. "He wanted to locate his mate and believes Kenna is his mate."

"That's a lie," I growled, making the alpha look back at me in shock which made me take a step closer, only for my brother to place his hand on my shoulder to stop me going any further. "Kenna is my mate. If she had another mate, don't you think I would know about it?"

That last part had the alpha's mouth drop open and nearly go to protest but didn't. He looked at me before he spoke. "Are you sure that you are her mate?"

I let out a growl in warning, while holding back Rafe. Alpha James placed his hands up in surrender before he spoke. "I didn't mean anything by it. I just want to know if—"

"There is electricity running between us, tingles when we touch," I growled, while moving toward him but Lewis's hand tightened on my shoulder which made me pause but bare my teeth while I continued. "I know what the mate bond is like. We see it everyday like everyone else here and Kenna," I gritted, while locking eyes with his beta, who was now glaring back at me. "She is mine and not his. He is lying and I don't share what is mine."

The last of my words lingered for a few seconds before the beta decided to speak. "You lying piece of filth," he growled.

We stood toe to toe, while everyone stared on.

No one was going to do anything since this was an impossible situation to confirm.

The beta launched at me, while Rafe came up close and showed himself. "Back off from our mate, asshole. She is ours."

Anger radiated from us, while Lewis and Alpha Maddox gripped my arms and tried to pull me back, but Rafe and I were stronger.

"She's not yours!" the beta growled, while I had enough.

I couldn't hold Rafe back and launched at the damn mutt. We started to throw fists and growls echoed around the room, while everyone tried to tear us apart, but nothing worked. Till more men came into the office, trying to help. Men, I classed as friends and worked alongside, gripped my shoulder with my brother to pull Rafe and me off him.

Alpha Maddox growled, letting his aura slip out which made it hard for Rafe and me to concentrate since all we wanted to do was kill the man who was staking a claim on my mate.

"Enough!" he shouted, while men held us back while we were trying to get to one another.

"Alpha James control your man," he growled loudly.

"And you do the same," Alpha James shot back, which didn't help the situation at all.

"Men move them out," Alpha Maddox shouted, while glaring at Alpha James. "Place them in the cells. Neither of them is to see Kenna until we sort all this out."

I let out an anguish growl. The thought of not having Kenna near me, it killed me inside.

Why was this happening?

Why would he be so hellbent on this?

Anger consumed me completely, nothing was helping Rafe, nor me. We were struggling.

The men started to move us out of the office, over fifteen men were holding between the beta and me. Hands were holding on to dear life while shouts were echoed from the man, who was being lead away with me.

At least he wouldn't be able to get to Kenna.

Opening a mind link to my brother, who I didn't let speak. "Have Catrina move Kenna in with you. Have Alpha Maddox tell her what is going on. Maybe she can shed some light on why the asshole is acting like this?"

"She never told you," he mumbled, but I said nothing while knowing I was on the verge of letting Rafe take over to kill again.

Men pushed us toward the cells, which didn't take us long to get to. Both the beta and I were throwing into separate cells, while we both tried to get out of them.

The men slammed the gates on us, locking us in.

I started to pace the cell like a caged animal, while my eyes were glued to the man who was in the one opposite me, who was doing the same.

Alpha Maddox stepped forward, while Alpha James stepped closer to his man, but his eyes were darting between both.

"Both of you will stay in here till you have calmed down," Alpha Maddox growled, while letting his aura slip out which caused us to groan in pain. Both of us bared our necks in submission, while wanting out to kill each other. "Neither of you are to go near Kenna. You are to stay away till we have sorted out this mess."

Neither one of us spoke.

Alpha James went to his man, and I just about caught what he said. "I'll have a word with her."

"That statement also is aimed toward you and the other men from your pack," I growled, which made Alpha James turn to look at me. He was annoyed, but it was Alpha Maddox's voice came and agreed with me.

"My friend here is right," he said, stepping toward Alpha James. "I will talk to Kenna. No one else. I will ask her questions and if she agrees to meet with you, then yes but till then you are to stay the hell away from her. Do you understand me, alpha James?"

Alpha James looked at him but said nothing. Not long after, the man moved away and walked out of the cells with every man and pack member who came in to stop the fight.

Alpha Maddox looked over his shoulder and opened a mind link to me. "Catrina, Lewis and I will talk to Kenna once we get out of here. Even keep her in Catrina and Lewis's house till you are allowed out." He let out a sigh before continuing. "You never know this asshole may slip up and talk. Just try to calm down. I know it is hard for you and Rafe, but all this seems to be about something else. Not about Kenna being his mate."

That part was right.

I said nothing to Alpha Maddox, while keeping my eyes on the man in the other cell who was now sitting down on the bench, glaring at me.

Moving back, I kept my eyes on him while everyone left.

This was going to be a long evening.
