ADRIAN

We walked into the pack house and headed straight to the office, where Alpha Maddox and Luna Elise were waiting for us. I was the last one to step inside.

Everyone darted around the office till we were all facing each other.

Rafe was close by but said nothing.

Alpha Maddox stared at me and then let out a sigh. "Ad, there is no easy way to tell you this. I had a phone call from Alpha James. It seems the beta who claimed Kenna is on his way here and without his pack. The alpha isn't with him but is on his way here. Alpha James had a conversation with the man, and something seemed off with him when they spoke."

I stared, wondering where the hell he was going with all of this.

"What do you mean?" Catrina asked, making me look at her. Even she seemed to be concerned.

Alpha Maddox sighed. "Well, that is the question both Alpha James and I have. The man is adamant that Kenna is his and only his," he said, which made Rafe and me growl. Everyone looked at us, but I tried to stay focus on Alpha Maddox. "Ad, are you okay?"

Ignoring him, I closed my eyes and stared back at Rafe. "Try to calm down. I can't cope as it is, and we need to know what happened and what's going on?"

Rafe stared at me, like a possessed demon but he stepped back and stared at me, or more like glared.

Taking a few moments to calm myself down, I opened my eyes and looked back at my friend, who seemed to be looking on concerned. "Rafe wants to come out and hurt someone," I said, moving my head side to side. "It was getting harder to control him and after leaving our mate, we are not exactly in the best of moods either."

Alpha Maddox looked on, his face softening slightly. "I am sorry about this Adrian. No one should have to work this hard to be with his mate."

I let out a laugh, which caught them all off guard. "This hard. Alpha, my dear friend, you have one sexually frustrated Lycan who wants nothing more than to be with—"

"Too much information," my brother grunted, which made everyone else laugh. Hell, including Rafe.

I looked toward him. He looked grim but soon relaxed when Catrina rubbed her hand up and down his arm. Fuck, I wanted that so bad with Kenna.

"I want this so bad," I said in whisper, which came out more like a plead.

Looking away, I looked to my friend again. "I want nothing more than to have her in my arms and have what you all have with your mates."

A hollow feeling swept through me. "I don't mind putting in the work. Hell, I don't mind waiting. Since we have been dinning together, Rafe and I have learned more about her and fuck, can she cook."

They all smiled, but they knew this was hard for anyone, especially for a Lycan and werewolf.

I took a breath and let it go, before I spoke again. "So, what does Alpha James think the beta's deal is?"

Alpha Maddox shrugged. "Alpha James said nothing about what he thinks, but it is in his voice that suggests something else is at play."

I frowned. "What about the girl who answered the call when we rang the first time," I said, trying to wrack my mind over her name till Alpha Maddox beat me to it. "Bailey."

That was when his face changed, hardened again like he was trying to contain his own anger. "Well, she contacted me last night. She told me she took our number down and wanted to chat when no one was around and last night was the only time she could do it since the alpha, beta and gamma were stuck in a meeting all day."

"Well... what did she say?" I asked, sounding impatient.

"On about me losing it," Rafe muttered, which I completely ignored him.

"Bailey said that the beta and Kenna were in some kind of secret relationship," he said, which made me tense, but Alpha Maddox shook his head. "Don't go there. Kenna never pursued him; he did it all. Bailey mentioned what kind of work they did, and Kenna was one of the designers for them and pretty good at it too."

Alpha Maddox moved back and leaned on his desk. "Bailey said she left without a word and didn't even bother saying about the matter, only she wanted a fresh start and when she left, the beta has been on edge. Demanding to know where she is and wants her back.,"

"Does she think they are mates?" Luna Elise asked, making my whole-body tense and go stiff at her question.

"Bailey doesn't think so," he said, looking at me. "She knows he has been hooking up with someone else. She didn't know who it was, but it made sense why Kenna left. She may have seen them together. The beta is known as a player around the pack and will never stop by the sounds of it."

"That is something," Catrina said, looking between us.

"But why claim Kenna as his mate?" I asked, which made everyone look at me odd. "If he is this player, then why is he chasing what is mine."

No one said anything, my question lingered in the office for a while till Luna Elise let out a sigh. "We need answers but that will only happen when they show up here," she said.

We all nodded, but I looked at Alpha Maddox. "When are they supposed to be here?"

Alpha Maddox sighed. "Three days for Alpha James. The beta had left after the meeting Bailey mentioned."

Fuck, not long enough. Not only that, but the beta could also be here. I needed more time, but I had to warn Kenna till Catrina asked something I should have asked too. "What about Kenna? We should tell her."

"And what should we supposed to tell her," Alpha Maddox said sternly. "She still doesn't know what we are and telling her that her ex is coming here may lead to her leaving and—"

A growl rippled out of me, which made everyone look at me. "That will never happen," I growled, stepping away from them all. I had heard enough.

When they come here, we can deal with it all then. But now, I am struggling and so is Rafe. And all I want right now is Kenna.

Without a word, I stormed off while everyone in that office called out to me, but I ignored every single one.

Rafe wanted to shift, fight whoever was close by but I managed to keep him at bay. As soon as we were outside, I took off running and knew where to go.

After everything that had happened earlier and, in the office, there was one place I needed to be, and I headed in that direction till I stopped right outside the door—Kenna's door.

Clenching my fist, I knocked on the door. Not caring what the time is, all I wanted right now was her and this is where I am supposed to be.

I could hear footsteps coming, while Rafe was close. He may not have said anything while I ran here but he knew where we were going and he didn't care, like me all he wanted was her.

The door opened slightly and there she stood, perfection and all mine.

Kenna's eyes widened when she saw me. "Adrian, what are—"

Not wanting to waste any time, I push the door open wider and step in, while wrapping my arm around her and not caring whether she was ready or not. I needed her and now.

My lips crashed hers as I picked her up, her legs wrapping around my waist as I kicked the door closed with my foot. I moved away and headed to her bedroom, while still kissing my damn mate.
