KENNA

As soon as Adrian and Maddox left, Catrina sat on the couch next to me. I was shaking.

Admitting to what I found was not what I wanted to do but I needed to tell them everything. I felt safe telling them, nothing like back at my old job, where I was on edge. And knowing more than I intended, I knew Dylan and James being here was more about that fact I knew their secret, even though part of me wondered if I was wrong about James but now, he was here, I didn't know what to think.

After a few moments of calming down, I let out a shaky breath and looked at Catrina. "I think we should leave now."

Catrina looked at me and gave me a nod. "Let's go. The sooner we get there, the sooner we get back."

That part I kind of liked.

We both got up and headed to the door, when Catrina stopped and stood still for a moment which was odd. She had that far away look I had been seeing a lot of today—Maddox, Lewis and even Adrian had done it too. It was weird. Adrian called it thinking, part of me didn't believe them which would be stupid, right? I mean, what else could they be doing when they look like that.

Looking at Catrina, she looked back at me when a ping ran out which made her pick up her phone. She looked at it and grimaced. "It looks like some wolves have gotten onto the land."

Great, that wasn't what we needed to hear.

"What do we do now?" I asked, stepping aside and lean back on the back of the couch while keeping my eyes on her.

Catrina looked at her phone and let out a sigh. "Lewis said to stay put for a moment and then head to yours." She looked up and sighed. "What about some food and then we leave? Give them time to send the wolves packing."

A smile inched the corners of my lips at her words, which was hilarious to hear but there was no way I could eat. I think I lost my appetite since we were talking about my old job.

"I'm not really hungry," I said which earned me an eye roll from her.

"You may not be hungry but that is to do with what we have been talking about." She stopped and looked at me for a moment, then looked over to the kitchen. "What about a snack?"

I frowned but she looked back and grinned. "Look, we eat and head out. Sandwiches and a mug of coffee before we go."

Well, whatever. As long as we leave soon, I didn't care. I nodded and walked over to the kitchen, which made Catrina smile. We both headed over and Catrina got to the bread and started to make some peanut butter sandwiches. She had made quite a few but as soon as I took a bite, I knew I needed more which made Catrina laugh.

Once the sandwiches were done, I drank some of my coffee and looked at Catrina while placing my mug down. "I found out about the money by accident," I said, wanting to get it out into the open. Catrina looked at me while I locked eyes onto my mug, while memories of how I found out came back, which was when I told her.

"I had stayed late into the evening one day, not doing a lot but I knew Bailey was working later because of a meeting that was running late," I said, looking over at her. "I was helping her with something or other till she asked me to do some filing. I did and that's when I spotted the documents."

"I had no clue what they were, but something didn't sit right with them," I said, pulling a face. "There was no name of company on the documents, only a number."

"Did you ask Bailey what they were?" Catrina asked, which made me shake my head.

"No, she was busy with whatever phone call she was on. She had told me if there was something I didn't know, I had to leave it to the side, and she would get back to it. And that's what I did for that one night," I said, sighing. "But when I got back in the next day, they were still where I left them that night. No one was around and wanting to be helpful, I thought I would try again later to find out what the documents were about it."
