ADRIAN

Stepping outside Kenna's home, Rafe let out a menacing growl. "I hate this. We should be in there with mate. Making her scream our name and claiming her."

Anger was sweeping in now, not liking the fact that this was not the first time this has happened this week. We were getting cock blocked by the pack members.

Fuck, I had a hard on from that kissing session. I could smell her arousal which sent Rafe off and even coming closer. I prayed she didn't notice, which I believe she didn't.

Why us? We were starting to think that the moon goddess was doing all this shit on purpose. Cocking blocking us and making us work for our mate. I knew being mated to a human would be hard work, but this was taking it to the extreme.

Most of the texts this week were about patrol which I had to do. Rogues had been circling around, and I had to be on standby. Now, this was taking the piss. Rafe and I were one pissed off Lycan.

Moving away from Kenna's place, I walked away till I knew she couldn't see me and sprinted away, using Rafe's speed to get to the pack house. The message we had was to come to the pack house for a pack meeting—an emergency. Something Alpha Maddox never does, so I knew it was important. Thank God that Kenna seemed to see the urgency in the matter.

It didn't take us that long to get to the pack house but came to a stop when I noticed most of the pack members were standing outside the pack house. This had to be important, it's not normal to see all pack members here.

I moved closer and headed over to where Catrina and Lewis were waiting.

Catrina was the first one to see me and smiled. "How was your date with—" she stopped and searched my face, which made her smirk. "That good, huh."

I stood next to her, while my brother and her looked at me. But I turned away to look toward the pack members before I spoke to them. "Rafe and I got cock blocked again."

That part seemed to make them laugh, but I ignored them. "It is either patrols, someone wanting work done, or whatever this shit is about."

I let out a sigh and looked at them. Both smiling while I rolled my eyes. "We finally got to kiss when the damn text came through."

Lewis let out a chuckle before he stopped when I turned to look at him. His face softened, while pulling Catrina to him. "We are sorry brother. We know this is to do with the rogues," he said, but lowered his voice when he spoke again, making sure the other pack members couldn't hear him. "It could also be about whatever you and Alpha Maddox were on about the other day. You know, where Kenna used to live."

A low growl rumbled through me, which made a few pack members look over their shoulders at me but then looked back when someone cleared their throats. "Is everyone here?" Alpha Maddox shouted.

Even though I wanted to know what the hell Lewis meant but then my mind went to the pack that wanted to come here to see her. The beta. I pushed it all to the side and let's face it, when I have been with Kenna, I haven't even put any thought into them. I have been concentrating on winning Kenna over that I forgot about them and that damn mutt.

My eyes darted to the doors of the pack house and there stood Alpha Maddox and Luna Elise. Looking around at the pack members till Alpha Maddox stepped closer to talk.

"Now, I have an announcement to make. In three days' time, we will be having visitors arriving. Another pack and not many of them. It is a friendly visit and should only take three days."

My anger spiked at his words.

When was this decided?

Why the hell didn't Alpha Maddox tell me this? He knew what that pack was after, and I will kill that beta if he thinks he is taking what's mine. Kenna is my mate and not his. Rafe and I don't share.

"To right," Rafe growled, but soon quietened down when Alpha Maddox spoke again.

"Now, this is not a formal visit. This pack is here to see how we run things and even look around the place," he said, his eyes scanning the crowd till he landed on me. His eyes never left mine when he spoke again. "We are to keep everything running normal around here and even protect those who are not part of the pack."

My stomach twisted at his words. Was he aiming that toward Kenna?

His eyes moved back around the pack members again. "And as you all know we are on high alert after the storm with the number of rogues that have come onto the land. I have stated this to the other pack, and they are more than happy to help us if it happens when they are here. Alpha James has given me his word."

His eyes looked around and let out a sigh. "This emergency meeting was to discuss them coming but as your alpha I don't need to tell you all to be on you best behaviour and make sure you show respect where it is needed. If there are any issues, always come to me and tell me. I can deal with the matter personally."

Pack members murmured, while I stopped listening to what was being said after that. Whatever else was to be said, nothing was more than important than those words just now.

All this because of the pack coming, but not just any pack. It was the one who had the beta who wanted my mate and that would never happen.

I would kill anyone who tried to have her, and I don't care if he is a beta.

A hand came to my shoulder, which made me look to see my brother staring back at me. "Try to calm down. You look deranged when you look like that."

I let out a low growl, but my brother didn't back off. He would never, he was the only one who could calm me down but now come to think about it, the only other person who has seemed to do that lately is Kenna and now I had to figure out how the hell to tell her what was going on.

Thinking about it, I needed to pre-warn her about this. I didn't need her to be scared or even worse, run away from what she left behind. Knowing exactly why, I think there's more to this story when it comes to the pack, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

A mind link came through—Alpha Maddox. "I want to see you in my office now. Lewis and Catrina will be there too. I have loads to tell you."

Looking back at the pack house, Alpha Maddox closed the link, but his eyes were on me. There was something in the way he was looking at me that didn't look good.

"Let's go," Lewis murmured to me, while walking toward the pack house with the Catrina following. I moved but that was when I noticed all the pack members had gone.

When did they all leave?

But more importantly, what the hell was going on?
