ADRIAN
Watching Kenna move away and head into the shower, I let out the breath I had been holding.
Rafe was close by but said nothing.
Catching her staring at me was one thing, but it was hard to focus when her arousal fills my senses. It took everything in me to hold Rafe back, so she didn't see him.
I stayed quiet and listened in till I heard the water running in her shower. A sigh escaped as I moved up from the table and gathered the plates up. Placing them in the sink, I began to wash them and then dry them.
The shower stopped after a little while, which made my heart spike slightly as I placed all the dishes I had used back away where I found them. Grabbing the dish cloth, I wiped down the table and then threw it back in the sink.
Stepping out from the kitchen, I could hear Kenna pottering around in her room, which made me stop where I was and look toward her door. Rafe came closer and looked, while letting out a sigh. "Mate."
The big beast had grown attached to her that part was for sure.
My eyes moved from the door and around till I landed on the bookcase. Looking over to the bookcase and where she told me to look for a board game, I moved toward it and started to look at what she had. There was a variety but then her words from earlier echoed around in my head. "It's not all about the electronics. As I much as I love watching the new TV shows, the latest movies and playing the latest games, you can never beat a board game. It was something I liked to do as a child. It used to bring family time which was lacking." Part of me wondered what she meant, especially about it used to bring family time. Did she have any family? Were they close? It was something I wanted to know about but whenever the subject came up, or close to, Kenna seemed to be on the offside on even talking about it.
Even though I haven't known her for that long, I wanted nothing more than to know more about her and her life. The people who were the part of being there for her, to family members.
The only family I have left is Lewis and Catrina. My parents were killed in a war that killed most of the Lycans, but that never stopped Lewis and me ever, we would dream of having a family. We always spoke about being there for one another, even when we found our fated mates or even chosen mates. That last part was never the case for both, chosen mates. But it lingered in the back of our heads when we thought hope was all gone on finding our fated ones.
The door squeaked open, and I heard her footsteps come along the ground till her scent came at me like a freight train. Looking over my shoulder, I gave her a smile. "Better?"
Kenna nodded and came closer, her eyes on the board games. "Yes. Did you choose which one to play?"
I shrugged and moved back slightly for her to take over. "You chose one. I'll play whatever you fancy."
Kenna moved closer and sighed, while searching for what she was looking for which didn't take too long as the corner of her lips curled up slightly. "This one." She grabbed the box which read monopoly.
A smirk slipped onto my lips. Oh, she was so going down. The last time I played this, I beat everyone who played, and they were all not having it since I had to send most of them to jail, or they lost all their money.
"Are you sure about playing this one?" I asked, moving my head to the side. "I am the reining champ. You should ask Catrina."
Kenna smiled. Actually, smiled at me. "Oh, I will ask," she said, moving away from me and heading to the table. "I was the winner the last time I played with someone too, so this will be more fun. Also, we should play at the table. I don't want to lose any of the pieces since I had to use different counters for the board."
"What do you mean you had to get different counters?" I asked, sounding slightly confused.
Kenna placed the game on the table and looked at me. There was some kind of emotion that settled into her eyes, something I couldn't read until she shook her head slightly, while trying to calm herself down. "Oh, nothing really. The counters you use to move along the board when you throw the dice. Like most of my games, I bought this one in a thrift store. The manager stated some pieces were missing, so when I opened it, I noticed what was and had to order them on Amazon. But since this is my game, I thought I would use different ones."
I said nothing and walked over to the table. Stopping, I watched Kenna open the box, then pulling out a bag that she called counters and that's when I realised what she meant. There in the bag were two of the original pieces—the top hat and boot. The others in there were colourful with what I could gather, when she handed them to me. Some of them were things she had found or had in a Christmas cracker. There were two mini ducks, one with a blue hat and one with a purple bow around its neck. A small cat, with no features but you could make it out to be a cat from the way it was sitting. There was a small trainer from a Barbie doll.
"I know most monopolies have at least seven counters," she said, sounding slightly sad and not looking at me. "I tried to look for another piece, but it was getting harder to find something to use, so I gave up."
Kenna looked up at me and let out a sigh, then narrowed her eyes. "Don't think I'll go easy on you if I am being nice. I can be ruthless when I want to be."
That last part made Rafe look up from whatever he was doing and let out a chuckle. "I would like to see her ruthless with us. Can you imagine what we could get up to and—"
"Don't even finish that damn sentence or I am muzzling you for a week," I gritted, which only made the damn mutt laugh.
Ignoring him, I placed a smile on my lips and played her game. There was no way she would be that ruthless, surely?
"Can't wait to find out Angel. Show me what you got," I stated, pulling out the chair to sit while Kenna smiled and started to get everything out of the box.
It took a while to sort out everything, but it was now time to play, and this was going to be easy.
"Ready to go down, big boy," she asked with a smile, her eyes on me.
The way she said big boy had everything inside me tingling with need, but I kept a straight face.
Rafe was ready to put her over his knee and make me squirm, while he sent dirty images of what we should do to her if we win.
Ignoring him again and even threatening him with a block, the big ass teddy bear shut up for me to play.
"Bring it on, Angel. Show me what you got."
Fighting words for someone who may live to regret those words later, but do I care—absolutely not.
